Step 1 Lead In 1. A saying, “Don’t spend time with someone who doesn’t care spending with you.” to lead to the word “share”. 2. Show Ss some pictures of famous people on what they think about sharing.(including Kofi Annan, Confucius, etc) Step 2 Two questions for Ss. 1)Have you ever helped your parents, or other relatives, or your friends,or people in your community, or people outside your community? 2)What kind of people would be called “ volunteers”? Through these two questions, teacher leads the Ss to know the definition of “volunteer”. Step 3. Give some information to Ss on the following three aspects. 1)sign about volunteer 2)what do the volunteers usually do to help other people? 3)Some famous volunteers and their deeds Step 4. Basic information about Papua New Guinea. Step 5. Reading 1.Fast Reading. Ask Ss to read the text quickly and find out how to divide the text into four parts and their main ideas. 2.Detailed Reading Task 1. Read para.2-3 and finish several exercises shown in the screen. Task 2.Read para. 4-8 and finish the chart about the life in the village. Step 6. Discussion What are the similarities and differences between Jo’s classroom and yours? Step 7 Homework 1.Search on the Internet or other sources for information about how to work as volunteers. 2. Preview the text on page 29. | |||||||||
