Since the Institute first received international students in 1955, it has hosted more than 15,000 international students from over 70 countries. Over 1,200 international students are currently enrolled at Nanjing University.

The Institute provides varying levels of Chinese language instruction, from beginners’ Mandarin to undergraduate and graduate level courses

The Institute boasts diverse course offerings, outstanding faculty, and excellent facilities.. Small introductory language classes allow for flexible teaching and accommodation of individual needs.

The Institute is located on Nanjing University’s beautiful and vibrant Gulou campus, which has a host of social and cultural offerings.2．汉语学习项目

Chinese Language Programs

A．寒、暑期短训班（2周至10周）

Short Programs during winter and summer break (2-10 weeks)

寒暑假组织从2周到10周长短不等的、各个层次的汉语培训课程，从听说读写等多方面进行培训，每周20课时，实行小班教学。

开设的课程有：汉语说话、汉语读写、汉语阅读、汉语听力、报刊阅读、写作、高级汉语语法、HSK考试讲座、中国文化、太极拳、当代中国等。并可以安排市区参观和国内旅行。

During the winter and summer vacations, the Institute offers Short Programs ranging from 2 to 10 weeks long. Different levels of language instruction are offered. Each program has 20 hours of instruction per week and is taught in small classes.

Classes offered include Chinese Speaking, Chinese Reading, Chinese Reading and Writing, Newspaper Reading, HSK Introduction, Chinese Culture, Taiji Boxing and Contemporary China. One-day excursions to the Nanjing vicinity and trips around China can also be organized through the Institute.

B．长期汉语进修班（半年至2年）

Regular Chinese Program (half a year to 2 years)

每个学期开设各类汉语课程，由教学经验丰富的汉语教师授课，根据学生水平分零起点、初、中、高四个层次，另有20门左右的文化类选修课共学生选择，小班教学。

开设的课程有：汉语阅读、汉语口语、汉语听说、高级汉语语法、中国古代史、中国近代史、新时期中国电影、汉语网络新闻阅读、少数民族与宗教、中国概况、太极拳、书法基础、书法创作等。

Nanjing University offers varying levels of Chinese language instruction each semester. Students are placed into one of four groups: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Language courses are taught by experienced teachers. Over 20 optional classes related to Chinese culture are also offered; these classes are also offered through small group instruction.

Courses include: Chinese Comprehension, Oral Chinese, Chinese Listening and Speaking, Chinese Grammar, Ancient Chinese History, Contemporary Chinese History, New Chinese Film, Chinese Website News Reading, Chinese Ethnic groups and Religions, Chinese Survey, Taiji Boxing, Chinese Calligraphy etc.C．汉语言本科专业（4年）

Undergraduate Programme: B.A. in Chinese Language （4 years）

专为国际学生开设。

培养目标是：具备扎实汉语语言能力与语言交际能力、掌握系统的汉语基本知识、掌握基本的中国人文知识、熟悉中国国情和文化、具备初步科学研究能力和实际工作能力。

课程分成三个部分：汉语语言课、汉语知识课、中国人文知识和素质课。

The B.A. program is designed especially for international students.

It aims to help international students acquire a systematic knowledge of the Chinese language, basic knowledge of Chinese culture, and practical skills for future research.

The B.A. in Chinese Language Program has three main components: Chinese Language training, Knowledge of Chinese courses, and Chinese Culture courses.

D．汉语国际教育硕士专业（2.5年）

Graduate Programme: M.A. in Chinese International Education (2.5 years) 培养目标：从事对外汉语教学的、具有实践性、复合型、国际化的高层次专门人才，为汉语国际推广提供优质师资。

课程分成三个部分：第一年在南京大学集中进行对外汉语教学、教育学、心理学、外语等课程学习；第二年考核合格者赴海外进行一年的对外汉语教学实习，同时进行远程学习，学校对其进行跟踪指导；最后一学期回校继续修读课程或继续海外实习，并进行毕业论文撰写和答辩。

The Graduate Programme aims to foster future Chinese teachers with practical skills in Chinese language instruction, intercultural communication ability, and comprehensive knowledge.of Chinese culture..

The first year training is comprised of courses such as Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language, Pedagogy, Psychology, and Foreign Languages. In the second year qualified students are sent abroad for practicum and further training under supervision of the University. Thesis writing and thesis defense will take place in the last half year.3．海外汉语教师培训项目

Overseas TCFL Teachers Training Program

帮助海外中文教师了解当前国际国内中文教育课程和教学研究的新趋势，提高自身语言知识技能、中国文化知识基本知识以及中文课程教学。

开设的课程有：对外汉语教学、现代汉语专题、语法修辞、汉语作为第二语言教学法、中国文化介绍、中小学语文课程教学研究，HSK考试与课程测试研究、少儿HSK考试研究开发介绍、现当代文学介绍、中小学语文教学改革发展趋势等专题讲座。

培训长短和课程安排可以根据要求另行商定。

The program aims to help overseas Chinese language instructors acquire up-to-date knowledge of new research on Chinese language pedagogy, as well as deepen their knowledge of Chinese culture and language.

Course offerings include: Teaching Chinese as A Foreign Language, Modern Chinese Serials, Research on Primary School and Middle School Chinese Teaching, Research on HSK test and Course Test, HSK test for Children, Modern Chinese Literature, Reform Trends on Chinese Teaching in Primary and Middle School.

The duration and course components of each teacher’s training program can be tailored according to individual demand.

4．汉语水平考试及辅导系列

HSK Tests serials and relevant intensive courses

南京大学海外教育学院是国家汉语水平考试（HSK）和汉语作为外语教学能力考试的考点，每次考试前开设考前辅导课程。

The Institute for International Students of Nanjing University is a national test center for the Chinese Proficiency Test（HSK）and the TCFL Capability Test. Before each test, intensive prep-courses are offered.

5．申请入学

Application Period

寒假短期班、春季长期汉语进修班：10月-12月

暑假短期班和秋季长期汉语进修班：3月-5月

本科及硕士项目：1月至5月

Applications for the Winter Short Program and Spring Semester enrollment are accepted from October-December. Applications for the Summer Short Program and Fall Semester enrollment are accepted from March to May.

6．学费Tuition

寒暑假短期班：1820元/2周，第3周~第10周加收660元。

Winter Short Program and Summer Short Program: RMB 1820 for the first two weeks, plus RMB 660 for each week from the third week to the tenth week

长期汉语进修班、汉语言本科：19000元/学年

Regular Chinese Program and B.A. in Chinese Language: RMB 19000 / year,

汉语国际教育硕士：23000元/学年

M. A. Chinese International Education: RMB 23000 / year

7．食宿费

Living Expenses

南京大学国际学生公寓提供有卫生间的标准双人间，接受住房预定，住宿标准为每人每天60至85元。在学生食堂就餐，每人每月的伙食费在450元至700元。

南京大学附近出租公寓的标准大约为：一室一厅：900-1200元/月，两室一厅：1200元-1800元/月。

Nanjing University offers standard double rooms for international students; the price varies from RMB 60 to 85 per person per night.. Reservations are accepted throughout the year. If you eat at the students dining hall, you should expect to pay RMB 450 to 700 per month for food.

There are many apartments available off-campus near the University area. The monthly rent for a one bedroom room apartment is about RMB 900-1200. For a two bedroom apartment it is about RMB1200-1800 yuan.
