Are you bored with old-fashioned running or do you feel that it doesn’t give you enough exercise? Do you want to try a new fitness style that’s taking the world by storm?
The new exercise named “crunning” is a cross between crawling (爬) and running, which means getting down on your hands and feet, and then moving as fast as you can. It was launched (发起) by Australian fitness lover McCarthy in October. The short videos of the 34-year-old “crunning” through Melbourne that he posted on websites have inspired others to take up running on all fours. But is crunning really a better fitness activity than running? According to McCarthy, crunning works the upper body more than traditional running does. “It really works your legs and shoulders at the same time,” he said.
Many other people also believe that exercise involving the whole body helps to improve people’s health. On October 22, a group of exercise lovers was seen slowly crawling on all fours through a park in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, reported the China News Service.
Seeing this, Lu Peiwan, chief doctor at Henan Provincial People’s Hospital, said that the “crawling workout” is actually based on a routine invented by the ancient Chinese doctor Hua Tuo.“Though human bodies do not fit in crawling and running all in one, and our wrists (手腕) are not very strong, it helps as long as we put on protective clothing and wear gloves (手套),” Lu added.
Hua suggested using the so-called “exercise of the five animals” to “treat illnesses and … feel better physically”. Lu told the news agency, “Imitating the walk of animals can be good for your health as it helps to train muscles that humans normally don’t use that much.”
( ) 1.Why does the author ask a couple of questions in the first paragraph?
A. To express his doubt. B. To introduce the topic.
C. To share his experience. D. To compare different ideas.
( ) 2.Why do many people start crunning?
A. It helps lose weight. B. It’s useful to keep fit.
C. It shows their personality. D. It’s advised by doctors.
( ) 3.What’s Lu Peiwan’s attitude towards crunning?
A. Favourable. B. Uninterested.
C. Doubtful. D. Regretful.
( ) 4.What’s the best title of this text?
A. Running on Fours B. Exercise in Fashion
C. Learning from Animals D. Men with a Difference

Three Inspiring Stories About the Olympic Games
The following are three stories that may make a difference in your understanding of sportsmanship.
The Stubborn African
In 1968, a Kenyan athlete Keino competed in the 1,500 metres running race. At that time, he was very ill and in great pain. Although he had got to the final of the competition, he decided at first not to take part. However, just before the race was going to start, he changed his mind. He ran from his room and arrived at the race track a few minutes before the race was about to begin. Surprisingly, he won the race, finishing well ahead of everyone else and showing what true courage and perseverance(毅力)can achieve.
The Kind Norwegian
In 2006, a Canadian skier, Renner, was taking part in the cross-country final when her left pole (杆) broke. This was a serious problem, as she needed the pole to help her travel quickly through the deep snow. Immediately, Hakensmoen, the coach of the Norwegian team, gave her another pole. Thanks to the coach, Renner was able to get a silver medal. Hakensmoen said that he had only done what any good sportsman should do, and Renner said that Hakensmoen had shown everybody the true meaning of sport.
The Special Olympic Athlete
Eric has intellectual (智力的) disability (缺陷) but this does not stop him from taking part in the Olympics. Eric has been competing in the Special Olympics ever since he was at high school. In a recent interview, he said, “It’s really a good experience. You get to meet different athletes and make all kinds of friends.” Corbett, an organiser for the Special Olympics said, “He always does his best and has a wonderful time in the process. Hi, I’m Anna Lake from Britain. Some of my foreign friends often worry about what to do when going to a party in Britain. Here’s my advice. First, don’t be nervous—it is a party after all. Just be your normal self and you’ll be fine. However, there are a few things to remember. Just like many other parts of the world, it’s common in Britain to bring some food or drink to a party. Just some snacks would be fine, or a bottle of something. This is just to tell your host that you are glad to be there and happy that they invited you. Perhaps you will be offered food at the party. If so, you should remember that it’s best to accept it, just to be polite. But then your host wouldn’t feel upset if you explained why you couldn’t eat something. This is probably the same for parties in most other countries. In other words, don’t think too much about the fact that you are a foreigner. Relax, be polite, tell some interesting stories about parties in your own country, and you won’t go far wrong.
