Teaching design for unit1, module 6

Teaching objectives

1.knowledge goals: know the new words and grasp the core words; apply some sentences patterns;

2.ability goals: increase students’ abilities of listening and speaking, especially about listening to the specific information;

3.emotional goals: students will understand the importance of protecting animals.

Teaching emphasis and difficulty: Foster students’ ability of listening and speaking.

Teaching aids: multiple media

Steps	T’s Instructions	Ss’ activities
Warm up	Play a short video for students to watch and listen	Watch the video.
Warm up	Ask two questions: What animals can you see? What other animals do you know?	Try to answer the questions according to their memory.
Pre-listening	Word guessing: show some sentences describing animals and ask students to guess what animals they are describing.	Guess the animals.
	During the guessing, teach some new words in the sentences.	Learn the new words.
	Ask students to discuss the topic: Why are so many animals in danger?	Discuss in groups and then report to the class.
While-listening	Play the video and ask students to listen to the general idea. Then answer the questions.	Listen to the general idea and answer the questions.
	Play the video a second time and ask students to put the sentences in right order.	Listen and put the sentences in right order.
	Play the video a third time and ask students to fill in blanks.	Listen and fill in the blanks.
	Listen to the listening materials and choose the right answers.	Listen and finish the task.
Post- listening	Reading aloud. First time ask students to read the text after the recording; second time ask students to read the text while listening; third time ask students to read the text, each student one sentence.	Read the text in different ways.
	Discuss: Why are so many animals in danger? What can we do to help them?	Discuss the questions and then report to the class.
	Watch a short video to understand the importance to protect animals.	Watch and think.
Homework	Ask students to do the homework after the class.	Do the homework.
