Part 1 Analysis of the teaching material.
Firstly, the function and position of this lesson
This is a dialogue and vocabulary integrate lesson. It’s the first period of this unit and it’s mainly about the time.
Secondly, the teaching aims.
Aims on knowledge: All of Ss are able to understand the dialogue well and read it fluently and listen, speak and read the new words.
Aims on ability: Most of Ss are able to use the key sentences: ---What’s time is it? ---It’s 6 o’clock. It’s time for dinner.
Aims on emotion: Ss can set up self confidence in language study and get a habit of time keeping.
Thirdly, the important and difficult points
According to the feature of this unit, “the reading and comprehension of the dialogue” and “the application of the key sentences” are the important and difficult points in this lesson.
Part2 the teaching and studying methods
The 4th graders have a keen interest in English, with a strong desire for performance. So I’ll mainly use task-based and situational teaching methods to let Ss learn in real situation. In addition, CAI and tape recorder are needed in this lesson.
Now let me talk about the most important part
Part3 the teaching procedures
Step1 warm-up
I’ll let Ss enjoy a chant and find “what’s the chant about?” The purpose is to form a better English learning surrounding and get ready for next step.
Step2, Presentation & Practice
Firstly, present and practice the dialogue. Here, I design 4 tasks.
Task1, I’ll show the pictures on page4 and introduce the background of the dialogue: Wu Yifan and John didn’t go home after school. What are they doing?
Task2. I’ll play the tape recorder twice. The first time, Ss listen and find the answer to my question: where are they going? What are they talking about? The second time, Ss find the answer.here I’ll elicit the sentences: what time is it now? It’s 5 o’clock. Here o’clock is the new word. I’ll guide Ss to read and pay attention to the pronunciation of “o”.
Task3. I’ll play the video. Ss watch the video and find: what time is it? What should they do? And elicit the sentence It’s time for dinner.
Task4. Ss read the dialogue carefully and find out if they have any question. And then, listen and imitate. After that Ss role-play the dialogue and show.
Secondly, I’ll say the learning of vocabulary. Here I design 3 activities.
A1: I’ll show the picture and introduce the background: John and zhangpeng are talking about their daily routine. Let’s see together.
A2: I’ll guide Ss to listen and answer: what time is it? And elicit the new word English class and then guide them how to read. For other 5words, I’ll let Ss discuss and learn in groups, and then show how to read.
A3:listen and imitate. I’ll stress the pronunciation. And then play a game, sharp eyes. Guide Ss say the words as quickly as they can.
Step3.consolidation and extension
Firstly, offer Ss a chant and guide Ss to chant together.
Secondly, it’s a group work. I‘ll set a new situation. Amy and Chen Jie are talking about their daily routine.Guide Ss to make a new dialogue by using the new sentences. Of course, I’ll give Ss a model in this activity.
Step4. summary
I’ll encourage Ss to sum up what they have got today according to the knowledge, ability and even emotion.
Step5. homework
Ss draw their own daily routines and describe by using the key sentences.
In the end, it’s my blackboard design. This is my blackboard design.it shows the important sentences and words. Ss can see it clearly.
That’s all for my teaching ideas. Thanks for your listening.
