M: Excuse me, Mrs. Brown. I’m trying to do some work now. I’m afraid your children are making too much noise.
W: Oh, I’m sorry, Mr. Smith. But you know it’s difficult to keep boys quiet. They are in their early teens.
M: But I can’t stand it any more. I couldn’t work and I couldn’t sleep at all last night. And I was also awakened by the noise they made early this morning
W: I’m very, very sorry, Mr. Smith. You know they never listen to me. They are only afraid of their father. But he is away on business. I think he will be back in a couple of days.
M: well, it seems I have to put up with it in the meantime. But I hope your husband can do something about it when he returns.

Billy’s Daily Routine
Hi, I’m Billy. I’m a student at the London School of Economics. I’m at school most of the day. My first class usually starts at 9 and lasts one or two hours. I go straight to my next class, or sometimes I go to the library, or I chat with my friends. At lunch time we often buy something to eat from the student canteen—pizza, hot dogs, fried rice, sandwiches. The food is always good and cheap. In the afternoon I have more classes ---- for two or three hours. I always go to my classes, but some of my friends skip their classes. In the evening I usually get together with some of my friends. We sometimes go to a restaurant, or we cook a meal in someone’s flat, or we occasionally go out for a drink. We never go to expensive places. We seldom go to concerts or lectures, but most of the time we just relax.

How Steve Spends His Early Morning Hours
I get up as late as I possibly can and jump in and out of the shower. I put on the trousers I had on yesterday and take a shirt out of the wardrobe --- it doesn’t matter which one as long as it’s ironed. I find the jacket that goes with the trousers, look down and check that my socks match and that’s it. Nearly all my clothes are either green or brown because I’ve been told that they are the only colors that suit me. So I never really have to worry about what I go with. The important thing is to make sure I have enough time to listen to the traffic and weather program before I leave for work.
