How to protect our environment

Nowadays, the pollution on the earth is more and more serious. People are very worried about this. As middle school students, what should we do?当今，地球的污染越来越严重。人们对此感到担忧。作为中学生的我们应该怎样做呢？

    First, we should plant more trees .

Second, Save water. No water, no life. So it's very important for us to do so. Not only should we protect drinking water and stop polluting it, but also make full use of it.首先，我们应该多种树。第二，节约用水。没有水就没有生命。因此对我们来说这样做是很重要的。我们不仅应该保护饮用水、应该停止污染它而且还应该充分使用它。

Third , save electricity. It is important ,too. Everyone should do his best to save electricity. Don't forget to turn off lights or other electric machines when we finish working.第三节约用电。它也是很重要的。每一个人应该尽他最大的努力去节约用电。不要忘记关灯，当我们完成工作时不要忘记关掉其他的电器。

Fourth, save forests. They are useful .Please stop cutting them down and use recycled paper. Make our world a green one to live in.第四，节约森林。他们是有用的。请停止砍伐树木并使用可循环再用的纸张。使我们居住的世界是一个绿色的世界。

Finally, recycle useful rubbish. Plenty of rubbish can be recycled like cans, paper, bottles, and so on. The first thing we can do is to use cloth bags in stead of plastic bags when we go shopping. we can reuse the old textbooks as possible as we can. We should also never forget to turn off the lights when we leave the classrooms in order to save energy. What's more, it would be better if we walk or ride a bike to school. We shouldn’t throw litter around. We should try our best reduce pollution and waste.最后，循环再用有用的垃圾，大量的垃圾如罐，纸，瓶子等等都能循环使用。当我们去购物时，我们可以用布袋而不是用胶袋。我们应该尽可能地重复使用旧的书本。为了节省能源，当我们离开教室时不要忘记关灯。而且我们最好骑自行车去上学。我们不应该乱扔垃圾。我们应该尽最大努力去减少污染和浪费。

A survey（调查） about “how do your friends go to school?”

Hello, everyone. I am Lisa. I am a school student . Here is the result of the survey about “how do your friends to go to school”.

Jane’s home is 10 kilometers from the school. It often takes her 8 minutes to go to school by subway.

Dave’s home is 5 kilometers from the school. He often spends 15 minutes riding a bike to school.

It’s 2 kilometers from William’s home to his school. He walks to school. It takes him 10 minutes to go to school.

May’s home is near the school. It’s only 1 kilometer from the school. It often takes her 5 minutes to walk to school.

Lucy’s home is 8 kilometers from the school. She goes to school by bus. It takes her 18 minutes to go to school by bus.

A survey about students smoking

In the year of 2011, the whole country carry out(实施) a law（法律） that people mustn’t smoke in public. According to this topic, we make a survey about the school students whether they smoke or not.

The result shows that  percents  of the school students didn’t smoke.  8 percents of the students smoke once in a while(偶尔). 3% of the students smoke a lot . 

I think Smoking cigarettes is very harmful to our health. Studies show that smoking can cause cancer and other health problems. Smoker should give upsmoking. 

    There are other reasons to give up smoking. First, cigarette is very expensive. A smoker will at least spend more than $400 a year. 

 Non-smoker don’t  like to be at around the smoker. Further more , smoking is a source of pollution. These are all good reasons to give up smoking .  Of course , it is not easy to give up smoking ,but it can be done. I think ,a smoker may list the disadvantages of smoking ,which will be very helpful for him to give it up.

吸烟严重危害着我们的健康。研究表明，吸烟可能导致癌症和其他健康问题。吸烟者应该戒烟。 

另外还有其他应该戒烟的理由。首先，烟是笔大的开销。吸烟者每年至少要花费400美元。其次，吸烟留下了讨厌的味道，不吸烟者不喜欢和吸烟者在一起。另外，吸烟是一种污染。上述这些都是戒烟的完美理由。 

当然，戒烟并不容易，但是这是能够做到的。我认为，吸烟者可以罗列吸烟的坏处，这将非常有助于戒烟。

A survey about“Where would you most like to study English”

Our teacher made a survey about “Where would you most like to study English”. According to (根据) to the survey we can see that students would like to learn English in Australia, U.S.A. , U.K., and Canada. 42% of the students would most like to study English  in Australia. About 25% of the students would most like to study  English in the USA. About 20% of the students would most like to study  English in the UK. And a small percentage of students would most like to study English in Canada.  That’s all for the survey.  If I have a chance to go abroad(去国外), I would most like to study English in the USA.

Save Our Water 

Water is very important for living things. Without water there can be no life on earth. All animals and plants need water. Man also needs water. 

Nowadays, the water pollution problems can be seen everywhere. The factory let the waste into the rivers. People throw the rubbish into the rivers too. At last the water can't be drank. Some places even appear water poisoning. We have to stop these activities. We should step from a small start to protect water resources.

Although about 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water, there are many places in the world still running out of water. So we should protect our water on earth.

We shouldn’t waste any water. Sometimes we should reuse it . When we finish washing something we should turn off the tap(水头) quickly.

   I have a problem . I lent a friend some money three months ago, but he hasn’t given the money back to me . Now I need the money for computer repairs. What should I do ?

Dear Poor in Pennsylvania,

     I am very glad to receive you letter . In your letter you said that you lent some money to your friend three months ago , he hasn’t give it back to you. You really need that money for computer repairs. Why not just ask him to give the money back directly (直接地) . You should tell him that you need that money for computer repairs.  I am sure he will return the money to you. Maybe he just forgot to return the money to you.  If he has the money but he  doesn’t want to return the money to you. You can talk to your teachers about this thing. Let the teachers help you to solve the problem.  And you should learn a lesson form this thing. Never lend money to the friends you don’t trust(信任) them . You should stop seeing him and had better not make friends with him . If you can’t have your money back ,you should borrow money form your parents. Tell them the truth(事实),I think they will support(支持) you.

How to protect yourself in the earthquake

Many people are hurt or die in the earthquakes . Knowing some ways to protect yourself will help to keep you safe in the earthquake.

 If your are indoors ,the safest place is under a strong table or desk. Sitting on the floor in a doorway or close to a wall is safer than standing in the middle of a room . Remember to protect your head and neck with your arms.

If you are outdoors ,move to a clear areas. Get away from buildings and trees. Be very careful of fallen power line.(电线)

When it is safe for you to move around, check the people near you. You may feel afraid , but you should try to calm down(冷静) . That is the most important thing to do in the earthquake.
