语法精讲: 定语从句

1．定语从句的定义

在复合句中，修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。被修饰的名词或代词叫先行词。从句放在被修饰词(即先行词)之后，由关系代词或关系副词引导。

2．定语从句的引导词

定语从句的引导词可分为关系代词(that，which，who/whom/whose)和关系副词(where，when，why等)。我们先就关系代词作重点讲解。

3．关系代词的作用

关系代词who，whom，whose，which，that在定语从句中的作用见下表：

在句中所

The boy who speaks English very well is from America.那个英语说得很好的男孩来自美国。

【注意】当关系代词在从句中作主语时，从句的谓语动词要与先行词保持主谓一致。如：

He is one of the boys who like playing basketball.他是喜欢打篮球的男孩之一。

(2)whom指人，在定语从句中作宾语，常可省略。如：

The lady(who/whom)he is talking to is his girlfriend.正在和他交谈的那位女士是他的女友。

(3)which指物，在定语从句中作主语或宾语，作宾语时常省略。如：

The building which is being built will be used as a hospital.正在建设的这幢大楼将用作医院。

(4)that既可以指人，也可以指物。指人时，相当于who或whom；指物时，相当于which。that作宾语时常省略。如：

Tomato is a vegetable that/which is good for health.西红柿是一种对健康有益的蔬菜。(指物，作主语)

The woman athlete(that/who/whom)I read about in the newspaper has just won a gold medal.我在报纸上看到的那位女运动员刚刚获得了一枚金牌。(指人，作宾语)

(5)whose通常指人，也可以指物，在定语从句中作定语。如：

Mr.Green lives in a house whose roof is red.格林先生住在一幢红色屋顶的房子里。(指物)语法精练

____集训一__prefer及其相关用法

prefer是及物动词，意为“更喜欢”，相当于like better，后面接名词、代词、动名词、不定式等作宾语。其基本用法：

★prefer sb./sth.表示“更喜欢某人/某物”，prefer后面可以直接跟名词或代词。

★perfer doing sth.表示“更喜欢做某事”，表示相对于两种喜欢做的事来说，更喜欢做其中某一件事，相当于“like doing sth.better”。

★prefer to do sth.表示“更想去做某事”，表示在某种情况下，即在当时更想去做某件事，想去做的事往往并不一定是平时喜欢做的事。

★prefer to…rather than…表示“宁愿……而不愿……”，prefer to和rather than之后接动词原形，即prefer to do sth.rather than do sth.。

★prefer…to…表示“与……相比，更喜欢……”，其后可以接代词、名词或动名词，不能接动词不定式，相当于like…sth.better than…。

____集训二__plenty__of以及其他表示“许多的；大量的”短语辨析

★plenty of意为“大量的；充足的”，后接复数名词或不可数名词，表示事物数目或数量大并且充足。注意：plenty本身是代词，前面不加冠词a。

★ much和 a great deal of意为“许多的；大量的”，用于不可数名词之前。

★many，a number of和quite a few都有“许多的；不少的”之意，用于复数名词之前。注意：the number of意为“……的数量”。
