FOREWORD

和谐怀仁，木铎长传。壮也盛哉，职院气象。

With the harmony and awareness of ongoing progress among the teachers and students, Zhuzhou Professional Technology College takes on a thriving sight. 

始有丁酉之秋，建国八年，田心立本，鸿基初开。后历浩劫，经公立改制，筹校办工厂，谋转轨职教，跻全国百强，绎升格传奇……株洲职院三迁其址，九易其名，颠沛涅槃，弦歌不辍。

Founded early in the autumn of 1957, the college was constructed at Tianxin district and started to take its shape. Through its survival after the catastrophe during the Cultural Revolution, public institutional system reconstructing, operation of the college-run factory as well as its focus on vocational education, the college has now grown into one of the top 100 Chinese vocational technology colleges nationwide from a secondary technical school at a miraculous speed of upgrade. It stands lofty and majestic with endless praises despite three times of relocation and nine times of renaming in its historical development. 

循循然，树管理；兢兢然，谱教研华章。默默然，塑无私奉献；谆谆然，育满园芬芳。历代株洲职院人念“厚德、精技、笃学、致用”之训诫、树“团结、争先、务实、创新”之风尚、行化雨之春风、健自强之远志，乃明德新民、声名远播。美誉若群峰牵拥，苍苍若海；荣光似诸流汇聚，荡荡为洋。

Known for its strict system of management, conscientious  teaching and research, unselfish dedication, state-of-the-art instruction to have graduates across the country, Zhuzhou Professional Technology College, from the past till the present, holds a vision of “prioritized morality, refined skills, steadfast learning, and aimed application”, in the principle of “unity, excellence, reality and innovation”, like the life-giving spring and rain-salutary influence of education toward its distant goal with unremitting efforts, and consequently wins wide praise and numerous awards for  moral and service orientation. 

思畴昔兮，前人已矣；仗剑去国，征程正遐！观夫今日狂澜既挽，群雄并起；职教正兴，百花竞放。恐时光之易逝，望崦嵫而勿迫。因是立馆，专司此展，铭之谢之，志之勉之。

Now we recall the past at this college without presence of the predecessor, and find ourselves on a long expedition afar! In such a prime time, the raging waves are gone, the heroes emerge endlessly, and vocational schools prosper like numerous flowers competing to bloom.  We exclaim how fast time flies, but meanwhile cherish the time toward the destination. Hereby we house the exhibits and erect the inscription to thank the forerunners and to inspire the followers.

Postscript

悠悠岁月，历史有痕。栉风沐雨，蛹化蝶翔。

An institution with a long history, the college has experienced all hardships and come out among the best. 

开智化德，回眸情思。淑性陶情学无疆，济学育才何言悔。浩浩校史，鲜活如是，丰富如是，厚重如是。百折不挠之执著追求、敢为人先之胆识气魄、以人为本之办学理念、跨越发展之雄劲力量皆聚于此。株洲职业技术学院偕时代共发展，伴祖国同前行，春秋凝史诗，沧桑化丹阳。

While reflecting on such an impressive, resourceful and far-reaching process of knowledge dissemination and morality advocacy over the past decades, we never feel regret contributing to nurture of morally, academically and skillfully competent talents for the society. At the college there also converge such merits as indomitable perseverance, pioneering courage, man-based vision, and outstanding strength. It is developing vigorously to meet the motherland’s needs of the time with remarkable achievements. 

常言前人种树，后代摘樱。今日之辉煌易颂，昔时之艰苦难鸣。今得改革开放之天时，占工业重镇之地利，获团结一心之人和，当传承职教胜概、再添楚地盛望，方可告慰于先辈也。

As a saying goes, “offspring enjoy the fruits of the labor of their predecessors”, it would be easier glorify  the present success than to recall the past difficulties. To let the predecessors rest in peace, however, we should always be grateful for the policy of reform and opening to outside world, the location in the vicinity of the city of developed heavy industry, the unity and harmony among the local people, and the tradition of vocational education for further development of central China and beyond. 

职院多人杰，壮心永不已。灿若星河电，荣辉开万丈。求卓越、谋特色、图发展——望前路，师生浮槎破浪承继伟业；啸浩歌，吾辈管弦飞韵再谱华章！

The vocational technology l college boasts an elite pool of scholars, specialist and professionals who work together for the college’s pursuance of excellence, distinctiveness and progressiveness. Here the teachers and their students are carrying forth the great cause regardless of any challenge ahead, and on the previous foundation they will build it into a prestigious institution of higher learning.
