Good afternoon, and welcome to England. We hope that your visit here will be a pleasant one. Today, I would like to draw your attention to a few of our laws.
The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy wine in this country if you are under 18 years of age, nor may your friends buy it for you.
Secondly, noise. Enjoy yourselves by all means, but please don’t make unnecessary noise, particularly at night. We ask you to respect other people who may wish to be quiet.
Thirdly, crossing the raod. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use pedestrian crossing and do not take any chance when crossing the road.
My next point is about rubbish. It isn’t lawful to drop rubbish in the street. When you have something to throw away, please put it in your pocket and take it home, or put it in a dustbin.
Finally, as regards smoking, it is against law to buy cigarettes or tobacco if you are under 16 years of age.

If you go into the forest with friends, stay with them. If you don’t, you may get lost. If you get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends—let them find you. You can help them find you by staying in one place. There is another way to help your friends or other people to find you. You can shout or whistle three times. Stop. Then shout or whistle three times again. Any signal given three times is a call for help.
Keep up shouting or whistling. Always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making a noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house with branches. Make yourself a bed with leaves and grass.
When you need some water, you have to leave your little branch house to look for it. Don’t just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop them as you walk in order to go back again easily. When you are lost, the most important thing to do is to stay in one place.

Today the Chinese community in the city numbers more than 70 000, the greatest concentration being in Chinatown. Though it has not escaped a certain degree of “Americanization”, Chinatown has retained a flavour unique in the city. There are pagodalike telephone booths, Chinese-language newspapers and magazines and a Chinese Museum.
Many Chinese restaurants offer special food from different regions of China—Guangzhou, Sichuan, Beijing, Shanghai—usually at very reasonable prices. The most colourful day of the year in Chinatown is Chinese New Year when the area comes alive with masked dancers, fire-breathing dragons and fireworks.

In the United States, 30 percent of the adult population has a “weight problem.” To many people, the cause is clear: we eat too much. But scientific evidence(证据) does little to support this idea. Going back to the America of 1910, we find that people were thinner than today. Yet they ate more food. In those days, people worked harder physically, walked more, and didn’t watch TV and used machines much less.
Several modern studies, moreover, have shown that fatter people do not eat more on average than thinner people. In fact, some investigations(调查) such as a 1979 study of 3545 London office workers, reported that fat people eat less than slimmer people. Studies show that slim people are more active than fat people. A study by a research group at Stanford University of Medicine found the following interesting facts. The more the men ran, the more fat they lost. The more they ran, the more they ate. Thus, those who ran the most ate the most, yet lost the greatest amount of body fat.
68. What kind of physical problem do many adult Americans have?
A. They are too thin B. They work too hard
C. They are too fat D. They lose too much body fat.
69. Which of the following words can take the place of the word slim in the text?

70. According to the passage, among 500 American grown-ups, how many have weight problem?
A. 30 B. 50 C. 100 D. 150

When I opened the first “Body Shop” in 1976, what I wanted to do was earn enough money to feed my children. Today “The Body Shop” is a great company growing fast all around the world. In the years since we began, I have learned a lot. Much of what I have learned will be found in this book, because I believe that we, as a company, have something worth saying about how to run a successful business without giving up what you really believe in.
It’s not an ordinary business book. It is not just about my life, either. The message is that to succeed in business you have to be different. Business can be fun; business can be run with love and it can do good. In business, as in life, I need to enjoy myself, to have a feeling of my family and to feel excited by something unusual. I have always wanted the people who work for “The Body Shop” to feel the same way.
Now this book sends these ideas out into the world, and makes them public. I’d like to believe there are no limits to our “family”, no limits to what can be done. I find an exciting thought. I hope you do, too.
71.What is the writer’s main purpose(目的) in writing this book?
