英语作文 The First Day I came to This University

When I was a high school student, what invariably happened was that I imagined how my university would be. And today, as time went by, I have already become a sophomore student. But what is memorable for me is the first day I came to my university.

That was a sweating hot but fine day in summer. Accompanied by my mother and her friend, I arrived at my university. To my disappointment, the new campus was quite different from what I dreamed of. Actually, my first impression is that it was very old and just bigger than what I imagined. Nonetheless, various kinds of flowers and trees gave me a fresh feeling and attracted me deeply. It was convinced of me that my college life must be relaxing and colorful. 

Once we getting into the registration, a kind hearted sophomore student came up to us and directed me to enroll. Thanks to her , all went well and we succeeded in finding my own dormitory.

Adding to my happiness was to make my roommates’ acquaintances in the morning. There are totally four members in my dormitory. They greeted us warmly, which brought me a great surprise and delight. Although we were not familiar with each other and came from different places, we’d like to talk with the others just like friends.  

Finishing packing in the dormitory, we went to the college dining hall for lunch. There had been many people eating here and in front of every window was a long queue for buying the meals. Delightfully, the food was delicious and the price was not high.  

In the afternoon,I participated in the first class meeting . At the meeting, not only did we recognize each other,but also talked a lot about our former lives and our future plan.

Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to my mother and her friend in the evening. Though I found it impossible to resist the temptation to miss my parents terribly,I realized that from then on I must learn to do all things by myself. To some degree, It’s high time that I would be independent and meet the challenges.  In a word, the first day I came to my university was pretty enjoyable.
