Teaching Purpose:

1. Let the students know some important new words and phrases.

2. Let the students know the characteristics of this article and understand this lesson. 

Important Point:

1. Important worlds and phrase: rightly(correctly)，emerge(come into view 出现）,livelihood（means of living 生计）,amass（聚积），be obsessed by/with（被……占据心思）,devoid of（没有）,put/place a premium on（诱发，鼓励）,be indicative of（表示）,in the name of…（以……的名义）,pay off,and so on.

Difficult worlds ,phrase and some sentences that are not easy to understand.

Contents:

1. The first period : Introduce the author,title and the writing background.

2. The second period : Explain paragraph 1 to paragraph 4.(include explain the unfamiliar words and sentences)

eg: "The slightest mention of…by the young"——Any sight of the decade makes the middle-aged people think back longingly(渴望地）,and make the young man ask questions curiously. The words "orgies" and "sprees" are both means a party at which there is lots of eating and drinking.

3. The third period : Explain paragraph 5 to paragraph 6.(括号内容同上)

eg: "more than enough"=many,carnival=orgies=sprees,college contingent = college student soldiers,with distinction =distinctively ,to name only a few.

4. The fourth period : Explain paragraph 7 to paragraph 8.（同上）

eg: their minds=their ideas,pens=writings,denounce=criticize

5. The fifth period : Explain paragraph 9 to paragraph 11.（同上）

eg: contributed to=bring about,remedy=method,denominator=characteristics,"In no sense a movement in itself"means"In a certain sense ,it was not a movement in itself"…

6. The sixth period : Make a summary and do some exercise in class,then check the work .

By explaining the contents ,exercising and setting homework.
