本单元教材以“谈论过去某个时间某人正在做什么”为中心话题学习和运用几个常见的句型： —What were you doing when the rainstorm came？—I was doing my homework./What were people doing yesterday at the time of the rainstorm？/ My alarm didn't go off so I got up late./Ben was helping his mom make dinner when the rain began to beat heavily against the window./ Kate realized her bag was still at home./People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of…等，让学生学习过去进行时。在学习过程中，学生在交流中，能促进师生之间的感情。Section A 主要学习go off，pick up，fall asleep，die down等几个常见的动词短语及过去进行时。应掌握句型：—What were you doing when the rainstorm came？—I was doing my homework./ What were people doing at the time of the rainstorm? 等。Section A通过短文“ The Storm Brought People Closer Together”来介绍Ben 所记忆的暴风雨及自己在那时所做的事情，增加了学生的阅读量，也训练了过去进行时。Section B    安排了听、说、读、写的任务，通过“Do You Remember What You Were Doing？” 让学生学到一些阅读技巧。教师在教学中应合理利用课本上的知识进行教学。
