A holiday in the sun? lovely? But be careful. As the holiday season is coming, it seems reasonable to remind holiday makers of the dangers. Spending too much time in the sun and the sea will be bad for you. Consucla Fernandezz, a Spanish hotel owner, says. “Holiday visitors sometimes are stupid. They go straight to the beach on their first day and lie in the sun too long. Then they begin to feel terrible so they have to stay inside for a few days.
It is very important to be careful with the sun during the first few days of your holiday. It is better to sunbathe for just half an hour during the first few days and then increase the amount of time each day.
And it’s stupid to go to the beach in the middle of the day, when the sun is very hot. The morning is better—or late afternoon.
“It is unwise to take passports and tickets with you when you go shopping or sightseeing. It is much better to put all your valuables in the hotel safe. This is what I always tell my guests,” the owner says. “It is better to be safe than sorry! But they seldom take any notice.”
Of course it’s common sense. But tourists seem to leave their common sense at home when they go on holiday!

Self-confidence is similar to self-esteem (自重). Usually, when you have high self-esteem, you also have high self-confidence, but that is not always the case. Confidence often comes from your abilities. When you feel like you are capable (有能力的), you will have high self-confidence, but when you feel like you are failing in something, your confidence in that area is lowered.
When you feel like you are doing poorly at something, you should look deeper and try to find the reasons why you are doing so. Confidence comes from your abilities and when you feel like you cannot do something, and then your self-confidence will lower. If you are doing poorly at something, it’s important to determine why you are doing poorly. Sometimes it’s a matter of how much effort you are using and putting in a little more work will improve your abilities.
If you find that you are unable to do something, even if others say that it is simple, don’t worry about it. When you worry about it, you add more stress to the situation and it leads to lack of confidence. Just keep in mind that everyone has unique (独特的) talents. Don’t allow yourself to feel stressed simply because you are having difficulties. It might just be something that you don’t have a talent for.
Find your talents and work on improving them. When you know what your talents are and improve those talents, then you will raise your self-confidence dramatically (极大的). Part of low self-confidence is that you are simply not doing what you are best at.
. According to the author, you are confident when ________.
A. the reason for your failure is found B. you are not feeling stressed
C. you are able to do something D. your effort is appreciated
65. According to Paragraph 3, we can know _________.

第四部分 写作
第一节:任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)
请认真阅读下面短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最恰当的单词。(每空一词)
If you simply can’t say no to friends or family, you can try these simple steps to make saying no easier and less uncomfortable.
The first thing you will need to do when someone asks you to do something you really don’t want to do is to pause. A pause can be stopping for even a few seconds to think over the situation. If it is a situation where you can’t make a decision within a few seconds, please follow the next step, which will help you.
It’s your time so take as long as you want to make a decision about whether or not you want to do it. When a question is brought up, for example, “Can you dog-sit for a weekend?”, let them know that you would love to help them with the situation but you will need to check your schedule and get back to them. If the asker pressures you further to answer them immediately due to their lack of time, then you have the right to automatically (不假思索地) say no.
Use your bought time to decide if it is something you want to do. If you don’t want to do it or you indeed don’t have time, then the decision is easy. However, if you feel you can handle it or realize it’s something you do want to do, then you can say yes. Being able to answer later keeps you from having to make a call to change the decision that you made immediately when they asked you in the first place.
If you are going to turn him /her down, keep it simple. For example, “I would love to help you, however, my schedule will not allow for it this month.” Remember honesty is always the best policy. If having this conversation makes you uncomfortable, then change the subject quickly.

参考范文:
In my opinion, money plays a very important part in our lives. However, even though we can’t live without money, money isn’t everything. Money can’t buy everything either. The most important thing about money is how we spend it and what we do with it.
If I had one million dollars, I would start many schools for children in poor areas because they are badly in need of a good education. In addition, I would give away some money to those in need, because it’s better to give than to receive.
The reason why I would do these things is that money itself can’t bring us happiness. Only by helping others can we achieve a real sense of happiness and pleasure. (121 words)
