Do we have too much food? Of course not. According to the UN World Food Program, there were 925 million hungry people around the world in 2010. Six million children die of hunger every year.
Luckily, a number of people have realized the importance of saving food. Last November, Li Hong, a waitress in a restaurant in Nanjing, lost her job because she took some leftover(剩余的)food home for her son. Many people are by her side and criticized(批评)the waste behavior.
What should we do in our daily life to waste less food? Here are some tips:

3.阅读下面一段短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个最恰当的单词,每个空格只填一个单词。
Creating a study plan
Studying is important to students. But it is always difficult to find enough time to study every subject you need. So a good plan helps you to make sure of your success in study.
Then, how to make a study plan? Well, you can begin with listing all the subjects you need to study and make sure what you need to do for each subject. Next, you should decide how much time you should spend on different subjects. Now, it is a good idea to study at the same time every day. In this way, you actually have a plan you can remember easily. While arranging (安排) time for each subject, you also need to make sure that you still have time for family, friends and rest. This is because you won't be able to succeed in your studies unless you balance your personal life and your study.
Once the plan is made, the next thing you need to do is to follow it. One of the biggest challenges in following your study plan is that you will be tempted (诱惑) to avoid it and do something relaxing, or fun instead. Luckily, you can fight this temptation by taking breaks. But be sure not to take extra breaks or too long breaks as it can affect your plan. So at the start of your break,set an alarm clock to remind you when your break is over. Also, you need to use your break wisely. For example, go for a short walk, eat a small snack, or listen to some music.
To avoid forgetting to follow your plan, try to get into the habit of looking at your calendar every day. Sometimes our plans are herd to follow because some important people in our lives distract (使分心) us from our goals. In order to avoid this, tell people in your life about your plan. Put up a copy of your study guide at home so you and your family can see it, and email a copy to your friends so they know when you have spare time.

| The ________ of a study plan | A good study plan is ________ in achieving your success in study. |

4.根据短文内容,从选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
Taking a nap(小睡) every single day may be the least favorite thing for a child in kindergarten.
However, being able to relax and get some rest in the middle of the day is great for many adults.
________
________People who take naps are seen as lazy. You can even be kicked off your job if you fall asleep at work. This kind of thinking dates back to the founders of the US, Puritans(清教徒).
________
________Some people even bring their pillows(枕头) to work for nap time. People have a much more relaxing attitude towards taking naps than in the US.
________But on the other hand, having a short rest can help you work better. A good rest can improve your mood as well. So why not take a nap during lunch break and make the rest of the day more enjoyable?
A. On the one hand, it is true that you spend less time working if you take a nap.
B. But attitude towards naps are quite different between the US and China.
C. But in China, taking a nap is just a normal part of the day.
D. They are known for working hard.
| E. In the US, a nap in the middle of the day is looked down upon. |
5.下面文章中有五处需要添加首句。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的首句。选项中有一项是多余选项。
A. You probably sit right at the front of the class if you re longing for knowledge.
B. Research suggests that the seat you choose in the classroom says a lot about you and your personality.
C. Do you sit in the middle of the classroom?
D. This means it's a good idea to sit in a different place every day.
E. People often think that students who sit at the back are lazy.
| F. Students who sit at the side of the classroom are normally interested in class. |
________ For more than seventy years, researchers and teachers have studied the link between the place where students choose to sit in class and what they are like as people and learners. Where do you usually decide to sit? Have you ever really thought about the reasons for your decision?
________ But is this really true? Well, some researchers say it is not. In fact, shy students often choose the back row because it is far away from the teacher and they don't want to answer questions. At the back, students probably won't speak much, but in big classrooms, it can be hard to see the board and hear what the teacher is saying. This could be the reason why students who sit here often get lower grades on tests and exams. For students with poor eyesight or hearing, a seat at the back of the classroom is not a good choice.
________ However, they like watching and listening rather than joining in. These students are usually also very good at taking notes. Next time you miss a class, borrow notes from someone who sits here. On the sides of the classroom you will generally find modest and thoughtful people. These people usually get good grades in school and are interested in learning.
________ Then the statistics (统计数据) say you probably like your teacher. You probably also have a good relationship with your classmates. Caring, outgoing, and cheerful people usually sit in the middle. They are normally serious about learning and feel disappointed with low grades on tests and exams.
________ Students who sit here usually want to discuss things with the teacher and are often very interested in the subject. They want to be in the best place to see and hear everything the teacher does and says. The only problem with sitting here is that it can be difficult to see and hear what other students do and say in class. So, if you really want to hear what everyone says in class, choose a different place to sit.

It is believed that social networks allow people to make their online social circle larger. But having 150 friends on WeChat is not the same thing as having 150 friends in real life.
In last week's Chitchat, we asked our readers how many "friends" did they have in their WeChat account(账户), and how many of them were "actual friends". Here are some of the top comments(评论).
@left and right
I have more than 1,000 friends in WeChat. However, the number of "friends" I communicate with daily is less than 50, most of whom are my classmates and families. So many friends are just there and we never speak any word.
@Kris Wilson Choy
I have almost 300 friends in my WeChat. However, people who I often send messages to is just 10. Most of these friends are classmates or people who work with me. Except work or studying, we hardly talk with each other during our spare time.
@Monica
| To be honest, as an English teacher since 1981, I have more than 400 WeChat friends, most of whom are my students, students' parents, and workmates. Although we seldom meet face to face, our ties still remain normal. You see, they often ask me questions online, which I answer happily. Of course, sometimes I feel upset when they ask me to vote (投票) online or give likes. However, I generally do as requested, because it serves to glue our ties. |
| The things that make people's online social circle larger | ________ |
| The persons who left and right talks with in daily life | ________ |
| The topic that Kris talks with his WeChat friends in his free time | ________ |
| The number of teaching years of Monica | ________ |
| The reason why Monica does as requested although she feels upset | ________ |

When I was a teenager growing up in a town, I felt studying very boring, I wanted to leave school and have my own life. There were only two ways for me to do this—working in the toy factory in my town, or getting married. I chose the first one. I was nervous when I told my father that I wanted to leave school. I thought he would say, "No! You are going to college." Instead, he surprised me when he said, "OK. We'll go to the toy factory."
Two days later, he took me to the factory. I had a very romantic idea of working in a factory. I had imagined everyone to be friendly working together and having fun. I even imagined there would be music and singing. I guess I had watched too many movies as a teenager.
When we arrived at the factory gates, my father spoke to the guard and one minute later we went inside. My father said, "Take your time. Look around." I walked around the factory, looking at the buildings, the workers, and listening to the noise. It was terrible. I ran back to my father and said, "I want to go home."
He asked me, "What do you think of the factory?"
"It's terrible." I replied.
"You have the other choice if you don't want to go back to school. But I think getting married is even worse!" he said.
I went back to school the next day. From then on, I studied as hard as I could. Finally I got into a good college. I enjoyed studying English, so I decided to major in languages at college. The idea of creating the camp came from Dinah Martinez, 17, and her schoolmate Janet Martinez, 18. Both girls suffered from anxiety.
