| This is a play about a teenage high school student, Steven, who is under the big pressure of the entrance examination. His family expect very much of him all the time. However, in his opinion, he tries to study hard just for the sake of his parents. He never thinks too much of his future; therefore, the schooling becomes a burden to him; meanwhile, it becomes tough for him to get along with his family. After a bad communication with his father, he decides to leave home and have his own way. However, when suffering from a chain of misfortunes-failures in finding a job, being cheated by friends, even being bitten by the bartender, he starts to miss his sweet home and goes back to pick up his books again for his own sake. On the other hand, his father also realizes the importance of communication with his child. He is willing to change his stuffy attitude toward his child. Finally, both of them have got a lesson from this occurrence. |

| This story is about a sixteen years old teenager, Steven. He doesn't want to live the life filled with challenges. He adores the life of studying day after day in his high-school life. This night, he continues to prepare the test for the next day, but the desires in his heart just can’t hold on anymore. | |
| ACT Scene 1 | |
| Steven: | Mathematics, history, geography. Forget it! I've had enough of this! All I do everyday is study, study, study, I'm gonna leave this place tomorrow, live on my own, and have a free life. Ahh, gotta get some sleep first, then I'll leave tomorrow morning. |
| Steven: | Dad, Let me tell you something, I've decided I don't want to stay in school anymore. I'm gonna go out and earn my own living. |
| Dad: | Why? You're still a kid, and there is no need for you to earn your living by yourself. You are going to stay in school, and that's that! |
| Steven: | No! I don't care! |
| Mom: | These two people. Steven! Are you serious? |
| Steven: | "I'm serious, mom, don't be too sad. |
| Mom: | Oh, Steven |
| Steven: | Mom, what are you doing? What is this, mom? |
| Mom: | Take these money with you, and don't forget, come on home whenever you miss us. |
| Steven: | I will, mom, take care. |
| ACT2 Scene 1 | |
| The next day,Steven is wandering aroud the road,suddenly he gets the sight of a big company!Then he is full of hope and plans to have a try in it! | |

| Steven: | Good morning, sir! Sir, my name is Steven and I saw the sign outside, so I was... |
| Boss1: | Wait... how old are you? |
| Steven: | "Umm, sixteen, sir." |
| Boss1: | Well, I'm sorry, young man, but you are only sixteen years old. |
| Steven: | Oh, I am young, but I promise I'll be the most diligent personnel you've ever employed! |
| Boss1: | Son, I'm sorry, but you don't have any working experience, besides, this job needs a technical skill which you have to learn about in school. Why don't you finish school, and come back ten years later? I'll think about it by then. |
| Steven: | Please give me a chance. I... I... |
| Boss1: | No... don't waste my time. |
| Steven: | Thank you, sir. |
| ACT 3 Scene I After the failure of seeking for a job,Steven feels very depressed. | |
| Steven: | What's the matter with all these adults? A fine boy like me wants to work for them, but they all tell me to go back to school! |
| Friend 1: | Hey, Steven! What are you doing here? |
| Friend2: | Yeah, aren't you supposed to be at home and be a good baby? |
| Steven: | Well, I decided to come out, you know, earn my own living, be independent, but, I didn't get it. |
| Friend2: | Aw, never mind all that! |
| Friend1: | Yeah, let's just come in and have a drink. |
| Steven: | Sure! Let's go! |
| Friend2: | Have a drink. |
| Steven: | Thanks, hey everybody, drink together! |
| All friends: | To Steven! |
| Steven: | Thanks, thanks! |
| Steven: | Oh, I feel great! Listen; I'll pay for all the food and drinks today. |
| Friend1: | Yo, Steven! So where's your money? |
| Steven: | MONEY! I got money! Here's the money. |
| Friend2: | Sleep tight! Let's go. |
| The next morning ,all his friend disappeared.And the bartender comes to Steven to ask for the bill of the drink and food. | |
| Steven: | Bill, bill? Oh, bill! Umm, money, right? Where's my money?! I can't find my money. I... I think I left it at home, you know.... |
| SO as we know,the Bartender teach him some lessons so thatext time, he'd better watch out! | |
| ACT 4 Scene 1 Then Steven wandering around the road,he is hungry but he has no money with him. | |
| Steven: um...how much is a bowl of noodle? | |
| Old woman:3 dollars,boy. | |
| Steven:Could I have one and pay you another day? | |
| Old woman:oh, boy,you can have one for free. | |
| Steven:Really | |
| Old woman:Sure!quarrel with parents? | |
| Steven:No,I just want to experience the feeling of living without them. | |
| Old woman:good boy,think it over,your parents must miss you very much.Don’t make them worry. | |
| Steven:Maybe I am wrong...... | |
| Scene 2 | |
| Mother: | Are you worrying about Steven? |
| Father: | No, I'm just walking around, you know, doing some exercise gets rid of the fat! |
| Mother: | Stubborn old man, Steven is his only child, of course he's worried! Oh, Steven, when will you come here? Steven, you're finally back! |
| Steven: | Mom, Dad, I'm sorry, It was my fault. I shouldn't have been like that. |
| Dad: | That's all right, son, I pushed you too hard. I was too mean to you that day. |
| Mom: | Alright! We'll discuss about this later. Dinner is ready, and I baked a delicious apple pie. |

| After this occurrence, Steven realizes that living by himself is not as easy as he thought. So he starts to know the fun of studying and the warmth from his parents, he becomes a happy senior high school student at last. | |
