A Study of Characteristic of Internet Slang

Abstract: Information society makes people gradually into a state of the digital life. And the spread of the Internet led to a unique network language phenomenon, so what happened to China's social and the development of language based on the combination of language and the network? This essay, from the point of view of social linguistics, based on the analysis of characteristics of the internet slang, this paper discusses the language phenomenon and the deep relationship of social context

1. Introduction 

Along with the Internet in China's rapidly developed and increased, network communication, this new high-tech communication model has been more and more people have accepted, and because of its unique charm .It became popular in the world. To BBS, online BBS, virtual community, chat room, ICQ, network game as the main carrier, network communication has become part of the modern life, the net language in substantially affect people in the information society of the 21st century, which need high speed Internet users input of some Chinese and English vocabulary in transformation, to the words, pictures, symbols, such as links and Mosaic, create a lot of Chinese characters, Numbers, English letters hybrid combination of the new vocabulary, there was something completely do not accord with the standard of Chinese expression of network language. Network communication regards the Internet as communication media; this determines the unique language style of the network communication and style of literary form. The great impact of the social development produced the new language phenomenon of language. This thesis, from the angle of social linguistics, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the internet slang and discussed the network language phenomenon and the formation of the development.

2. The characteristics of network language communication 

Language is use for communicate, Internet slang was produced by Internet technology .It is a communication product under development interpersonal .Network communication, it was expressed from online chat, E-mail (email), BBS (electronic bulletin board), electronic forum (electronic BBS) and e-message (short message), and other new communication tools, the virtual network space interpersonal communication. For the restriction of communicate media, it has the feature of advertising English, English news, telex English and fax English. Chatting on the net, this written dialogue forms and determines that it has the double properties of written English and oral English. 

2.1 vocabulary characteristics 

As informal style, the network language prefer using abbreviations, slang and informal words, even by random certain words, so it has the obvious optional characteristics. Internet pay the bill according to time, which requires the network communication must be quick and efficient. In this context, both English and Chinese language and destinations, use abbreviations and various acronym words become the most important feature of the network language. The lexical features embodied in the following aspects:

. 1. Produce a lot of harmonics words: digital played an important role in the network language. Due to easy to input and harmonics relationship, some number combination is endowed with special significance. On the other hand, in order to accelerating the speed of communication, network communication process do not choose Chinese Pinyin input, but in the current input method by default will press the return key, and lead to some interesting homophonic strange word of the birth of the network in the specific environment have been given a new vitality and widely spread.

1)English homophonic: use homophones letters represent a word or letter combinations and even the sentence. Such as: :【r】=are，【b】=be/bee，【c】=see，【o】=oh，【oic】= (ooh, I See)，【icq】=（ I seek you ），and so on.

2. Grammatical features
