Dear Susan,

I arrived here yesterday by plane. It is the peak season for tourism. Lijiang is an amazing town with a long history. In this old town, there are lots of old stone bridges over the river. By the river stand many stone houses. The houses are of minority style.

Lijiang is especially beautiful in the rain. Just a moment ago we had a storm. But now the sun is peering from behind the clouds. The sunlight plays on the water. Now I am sitting in the bar near the river, the sun streams into the room. How beautiful.

Tomorrow, we'll climb the Yulong mountain.

Today I went swimming with a friend of mine. The weather was fine this morning and a large number of people were enjoying themselves on the seashore. Some were playing while others were looking for seashells here and there. Many boys and girls were also learning to swim in the sea.

I was a little afraid at first, but my friend encouraged me and taught me. Little by little, I could swim a short distance. It was great fun to be able to float in the water.

Tired from swimming we lay down on the seashore, bathing in the sun. We returned home tired but happy.

Today is Teachers' Day. We went to school early and stood at the school gate to salute the teachers when they entered our school. Before class, we gathered in the hall. At the ceremony our headmaster praised the models teachers in our school and award them medals for their excellent service. Our English teacher was among them. In the afternoon some of my classmates went to our class master's office. We were warmly received and had a friendly talk with him. He encouraged us to study hard and be good students. We were deeply inspired.

This morning our teacher told us something about the Hope Project. He said some of the children in those areas still couldn't go to school because they were poor.

After school I was thinking about how to do my bit for them. When I reached home I saw the little box at the corner of my bedroom. In the box I kept my pocket money. Though I want very much to buy a pocket recorder, I decided to send the pocket money to those poor children.

I began to write a letter to them. After finishing the letter I asked my teacher for their address. Then I went to the post-office and posted the money and the letter.

I can do something for them now. How happy I am!

I was very glad that Liu Ying invited me to the English party in their school. Although it was raining, I decided to go. When I reached I found many students were already there.

They performed many programs, such as songs, dances, and short plays. A short play performed by Liu Ying and an American body attracted us greatly. They also invited me to sing an English song. I tried my best and won a burst of applause.

The party didn't end until 10:30. On the way home, I told Liu Ying that I really enjoyed myself at the party.
