1.glass  n. 作玻璃讲时，为不可数名词，表达数量则用……piece(s) of glass  

 glass 作玻璃杯讲是可数名词

We can see everything through glass.

Three pieces of window glass were broken because of strong wind.

2. Is it made of silver?

辨析以下词组：

be made of “由……制成” 能看出原材料，强调物理变化

be made from “由……制成”不能看出原材料，强调化学变化

be made into “被制成。” 后接成品，强调被制成什么成品

be made by “被……制造” 后接制作人，强调制作人是谁

be made in “在……制造” 强调物品的产地

Eg: The kite is made of paper.

The wine is made from wheat.

Some of the trees will be made into paper.

The chair was made by an old carpenter.

This car is made in Shanghai.

3. 辨析produce 与make

Produce：通过制造获得产品，也表示生产粮食、蔬菜等。

Make； 作“制造” 讲时，可以和produce互用。但不能表示通过种植而获得产品

eg: They produce wheat and rice.

The factory makes/ produces cars.

4.Anxi and Hangzhou are widely known for their tea.

同义短语 be famous for

辨析be known for , be known as, be known to

be known for  以……闻名，为人知晓， 表示出名的原因

be known as  作为……闻名 表示出名的形式

注意：avoid 后可接名词、代词、动词ing形式作宾语，不能接不定式作宾语

注意：词尾为-man表示某国人的单词复数形式一般是把man变成men

但是German复数形式是直接加s

Held原形为hold

Eg: We are going to hold a meeting tomorrow.

Form还可表示 表格

turn相关的动词短语：

send out 意为：发出，放出，发送，此结构为动词+副词短语，代词作宾语要放两者之间。

when in trouble 是状语从句的省略句，当主句主语和从句主语相同且从句中有be动词时，可以把从句中的主语以及be动词省略。

17.They are made of bamboo and covered with paper.

be covered with 被……覆盖

eg; The whole land is covered with white snow now.

be covered by 也表示“被……。覆盖”，是被动语态结构。

20.scissors 意为：剪刀，常用 a pair of scissors,  a pair of + 复数名词作主语，谓语动词与pair的形式一致
