Teaching procedure：

Step1:pre-reading(10min)

1. T asks Ss to brainstorm about which country do Ss want to travel to.

1）Do you like traveling?

2）Which country do you like when you want to travel, and why?

2. T asks Ss to share their knowledge about France.(what do you know about France?

3.T plays a three -minute video about traveling in France.(let

Step2; while-reading(25mins)

1. Introduce reading skills: Skimming and scanning 

2. skimming: T asks students to skim the text and find out the main idea.

3.Scanning:

A .The teacher asks students to read the text carefully again and let them guess the meaning of the words in page18 C vocabulary 

B then the teacher leads the whole class to check the answer and tells them how to guess correctly

C .the teacher shows these questions on the ppt and asks students(divide them in small groups) to find the answers in the text

a.What is the most famous street in Paris?

b.Which drink is France most famous for?

c.If a person likes shopping ,which place in Paris should he or she go?

D. each group send a representative to give the answers

Step3: Post-reading(8mins)

1. Retelling

If you are a tour guide in France. You have to introduce France to your tourists. What will you say to your tourists? The following words are key words for you.

France, Western countries, beautiful place, 

Paris, capital, Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Champs-Elysees

Wine, vineyards, south, wonderful beaches,, by the sea, summer holiday, winter, skiing on the mountains, 

French Alips.

2. Summarize Reading skills 

How to Skim:

Read the title. Read the introduction or the first paragraph.

Read the first sentence of every other paragraph. Read the summary or last paragraph.

How to Scan:

 State the specific information you are looking for.

 Try to anticipate how the answer will appear and what clues you might use to help you locate the answer. For example, if you were looking for a certain date, you would quickly read the paragraph looking only for numbers.

3. Proper nouns 

a.Find the proper nouns in the text

b.Find the characteristics of them

c.Page 21 : explain grammar to the students and do some practices.
