不一样。主要从用法上去区分：过去式用在一般过去时里面，做谓语。一般过去时的结构：主语+动词过去式+其他。
过去分词的用法多一些。
1、过去分词用在完成时里面，和have/has/had一起构成谓语结构。现在完成时：主语+have/has+过去分词+其他。He has just finished his work.他刚完成工作。过去完成时：主语+had+过去分词+其他。Mary went on a vacation after she had taken her exam. 考完试后，Mary度假去了。
2、过去分词和be动词一起构成被动语态的谓语结构。被动语态：主语+be+过去分词。The dog is called Xiaohei. 那只狗被叫做“小黑”。
3、过去分词可以做定语。
Is there anything plannedfor tonight?今晚安排了什么活动没有?
4、过去分词可以做状语。
Seen from the top of the hill, the city looked like a big garden. 从山顶上看，这个城市就像一个大花园。
5、过去分词可以做表语。
Don't touch the glass because it is broken. 不要碰那个杯子，它是坏的。
6、过去分词做补足语。When will you go to the hospital and have your tooth examined。 你什么时候去医院检查你的牙齿。
