    Can trees talk? Yes, but not in words. Scientists have reasons to believe that trees can communicate with each other. Not long ago, they learned some surprising things. First, a willow (柳树) which had been attacked in the woods by caterpillars (毛毛虫) changed the chemicals c化学物质) of its leaves and made them taste so terrible that the caterpillars soon stopped eating them. Then, even more surprisingly, the willow sent out a special vapour (雾气) -a kind of message causing its neighbours to change the chemicals of their own leaves and make them less tasty.

    "Choo, Choo!" Here comes the Chunnel train. Get aboard if you want to learn more about this underground transportation (交通) system. This is an unusual form of transportation, because it is a tunnel that trains travel through and not a real form of transportation.

    The Chunnel is really the English familiar name for the Channel Tunnel. In French, it is called le tunnel sous La Manche. It is a rail tunnel under the English Channel at the Straits（海峡）of Dover. It connects Cheriton in Kent, England with Sangatte in northern France. It is the second longest rail tunnel in the world.

    Did you know that the British and the French had a race while they were building the Chunnel? The race was to see who could get to the middle of the tunnel first. The British won by a little bit. It took 15, 000 workers over seven years to make the tunnel. The tunnel was finished in 1994.

    The completed Chunnel cost about $ 21 billion. But it all paid off, because it quickly became very popular. Millions of people use it. Now it is getting even more popular.

    There are three complete(完整的) tunnels in the Chunnel. The two outside ones are the traveller trains. The small inner (内部的)one is a guidance (导航) train. The guidance train is not used for transportation. Each track (=a line or route along which something travels or moves)is exactly parallel(平行) to each other.

    There are four different train systems in the Chunnel. The Eurostar is a high speed passenger(乘客)service that connects London, Paris, Brussels and Lille. The Eurotunnel shuttle is a rail ferry(轮渡) service. These shuttles carry cars and vans. These are railcars that allow drivers to drive their vehicles on and off. There are also two Eurotunnel goods service trains.

    I can understand your problems because l had the same feeling at your age when I was a junior 3 student. At that time I felt nervous and stressed from time to time because of the learning tasks and pressure from the exams. .
