Teaching aims

1. Students are able to understand the main idea of the whole passage and some detail information about it.

2. Students can use reading strategy like skimming to find the main idea of a passage.

3. Enhance Ss’ awareness of the importance of teamwork spirit.(或和文章内容相关) Teaching Key Points

Students review some phrases and understand the passage and use correctly the reading skills of skimming, scanning and intensive reading.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Warming up

Show students a video clip of 与文章内容相关视频

Divide students into 4 groups to discuss the following question.

Step 2 Pre-reading

Show the pictures of 文章配图，and ask students to guess the main idea according to the picture and the title.

Step3 While- reading

Task 1 Skimming

Find the main idea

Task 2 Scanning

Students are asked to answer the following questions.(或判断对错或连线)

Task 3 Intensive Reading

Help students to understand the sentence pattern __________ and ask students to make up new sentences.

Read out loud the passage together.

Step 4 Post-reading

Organize a discussion/debate/play on the topic of “_______”(根据具体情况确定). Phrases and sentence pattern learned should be used in their presentation.

Step 5 Summary

Students summarize the language points and teacher makes supplement.
