考试方式:
Three pieces of work will be assessed during the term – two essays and one proposal, totaling 50% of the final grade. The final exam consists of a question plus three quotations or extracts (with bibliographic data) on a particular topic. Students must write an academic essay on this topic, incorporating the references as they see fit (either paraphrasing, quoting or partially quoting) and adding a bibliography in a standard format (50% of final grade).
课程概述:
This course is for MTI students of English Translation, and intends to give a practical foundation in academic writing.
教学目的:
By the end of the semester, students should be able to (1) write a basic essay in academic style, incorporating secondary sources, and (2) propose an original piece of research.
教学方法(方式):
Classes consist of a mix of direct teaching, reading and analyzing articles plus basic practice in writing and researching. The syllabus is therefore designed like a spiral, with learning points recurring as students engage in tasks of gradually rising difficulty.
