There are several ways you can find out about the countries and places you wish to visit. You can talk to friends who have traveled to the places, you can go and see a colour film about them, or you can read travel books.
It seems that there are three kinds of travel books. The first are those that give a personal, subjective(主观的) idea of travels which the writer has got himself. These books can be useful if the writers share their traveling experiences with others. The second kind are those books which give objective( 客观的) information of things to be done and seen. If a cultured person has written such a book about the facts of a place, then it is more useful. The third kind are those books which are called "a guide" to some place or other. If they are good, they will describe and explain the place in detail. Like the first kind, they can be interesting and exciting, but their main purpose is to help the reader plan his travel in the most practical way.
Whatever kind of travel book you choose, you must make sure that the book does not describe everything as interesting, exciting or fantastic. You must also keep an open eye on its date of publication(出版) because travel is a very practical matter and many things change quickly in the 21st century. Finally, you should make sure that it's easy to find the useful information for your travel.

Since ancient times, Yangzhou has been a city on the water with trees and flowers everywhere.
In the recent years, the city has been working harder to improve the water environment and create a water landscape. Hopefully, people will live in harmony with water better in the future than today: play in the water, make friends with water, learn from water and feel the charm of water. Also, the public green space in urban(市区) Yangzhou has grown by over 1,000,000 square metres every year, and more than 100 city parks have been built. The green coverage rate has reached 42.5% and the average green land area 13 square meters per person.
As a poem goes, “Ten-mile flower growing equals grain farming”. In some ways, that is why quite a lot of flower farmers make a living by growing flowers at present. In the city, people grow flowers on both sides of the street, on river banks, on top of walls, on balconies, and even on top of buildings. When Jasmine Flower, the city song, was sung by the famous singers Song Zuying and Celine Dion at the Spring Festival Gala of 2013, all the people screamed with joy and took pride in it even more than usual.
Living in such a beautiful city, people are sure to have a happier and healthier life.

If you walk into a shoe shop, you can see many shoes. Do you know which pair of shoes is suitable for you? Here are some suggestions when choosing shoes.
First, you should consider the comfort. If you like the design, you can have a try. If you don’t feel comfortable enough to walk in the shoes, it may not be the right pair for you.
Next, pay attention to the design. Some shoes are designed for walking, some for running, and others for jumping. You should be very clear about when or where you’re going to wear the shoes.
The brand and price also need to be considered. Let’s say there is a pair of shoes that you like very much. You’re looking for them for long. But only the price stops you from buying the shoes. Then what will you do? You can always choose a brand that costs a little less but still has the same quality.
Make sure to choose the right type of shoes for your sport though. The ideal situation is that you should have a special pair of shoes for a special sport. Here are two quick examples.
Many sports like badminton, basketball, and volleyball, etc. are played indoors. The court surface is often wet. So the shoes that have very good grip (防滑性能) will be the best for you, or you may fall easily.
Many activities are taken outdoors. For example, someone may like mountain climbing or hiking. Usually, a pair of high-quality cross trainers will be good. Cross trainers allow people to do different sports outdoors. You can run, jump, and move in all directions.
In all, having the right pair of shoes is important and you don’t want to be wearing a pair of indoor shoes to run a marathon. That will do more harm than good.
