Should the Private Cars Be Limited (2)

Along with the booming of our national economy, the auto-industry is developing so fast in recent years, more and more people buy their private cars. It is survey that 62.26 percent people own the cars in our country. Most people regard the car as a sign of wealth and status. But is it practical for our Chinese to possess private cars? Should the private cars be limited? I think so.

In the first place, the pollution caused by cars has been the most important problem at the present situation. More than 99 percent cars consume gasoline. The burning of which produces a large number of poisonous gas, some of the contents of this gas, such as lead, not only pollute the air but also do harm to human health. A professor in Guang Zhou Chinese Medicine University said that this kind of poisonous gas maybe lead to lung cancer, especially children and old people. Additionally, some cars making the noise disturb the people’s normal life. So I think the government should take practical measures to limit private cars.

In the second place, the available lands for park become more and more few. With the development of economy, and urbanization. More and more people who live in countryside are gradually migrating to city, more and more available land are used to built housing district, industry district and so on. We have the largest population in the world; our arable land is limited and become smaller. As city people occupy more land for their cars, we will face the pressure of limited space. Statics shows that the number of the cars has been reach saturation in some big cities, besides, private cars remains increase at the rate of 200 everyday. For example, Beijing, as a typical example, the number of the private cars is 2,000,000 now. It occupies the whole country first, but the population is twice as Shenzhen’s and Guangdong’s.

In the third place, because of the increase of cars, cities suffering from traffic congestion, especially in some big cities like Beijing and Xi’an. You always witness the scene that endless queues of cars crawling bumper and bumper through all the main streets, sometimes even last several hours. A study shows that 60.9 percent of traffic jams and 50 percent of traffic accident are attributed to private cars. Traffic accidents happen every day and every second, which lead to people physical and emotional hurt even death.

Last but not least, during meeting, 62.24 percent deputy of the National People’ Congress put forward their ideas that the government should limit the number of private cars. They think that the government should make great effort to increase system of public transportation, solid traffic and multi-level transportation. The Development and Reformation of the National Committee also come up with the same opinion. They also advocate the government should devote to developing subway, highway and strengthen city infrastructure of the main road building.

So, concerning the above reasons. I think the private should be limited .The government should take into consideration and make effort to limit the private cars. We should devote to developing a clean, order, harmonic and environmental-friendly society.
