1. To learn to understand and use used to + verb
2. To listen and speak about what one used to be like and what one used to do.
教学过程:
Step 1 Lead-in
At first let the students watch a video about In a Dark, Dark Town
Then, let the students answer:
T: How did the speaker describe the town?
Ss: Dark, dark.
T:How do you describe people? Now let’s look at those pictures
(修改为:先在班上叫几个体型,头发长短不一样的同学起来,然后其他的同学用所学过的单词来描述这些学生,这样可以增加学生的学习兴趣,时谈论变得直观。然后再用更多的图片来丰富我们所学的描述人的单词。)
Show some pictures to the students. And let the students answer the question: T: What does the person like?
Ss:He is tall.
He is short.
She has long hair
She is funny.
She is outgoing.
He is serious.
……
Let the students think about more words to describe people. And write down them.
Appearance: tall, short, fat, thin, young, old, straight hair, curly hair, long hair, short hair, a medium body
Personality: outgoing, serious, funny, smart, friendly, shy, unfriendly
(修改:可以把学生分成四个小组,让学生说出描述人外表、性格的单词,通过比赛的形式,看那组说得又多又快,这样不仅可以使学生都加入进来,还能培养了学生的合作与竞争意识,同时能活跃课堂气氛,增加学生的学习兴趣,也减少了成绩不好的听好的说的这种现象。)
Step 2 Guess
Let the students guess what those persons like now.
Then show the pictures to the students:
Picture 1 T\\Ss: He was short when he was a child, but he is tall now.
We can say: He used to be short, but now he is tall.
Picture 1 He was ugly when he was a student, but he is really handsome now.
He used to be ugly, but now he is really handsome.
Picture He was shy when he was a child, but he is really smart now.
He used to be shy but now he is really smart.
(修改:首先应由教师带领学生来完成怎样使用“used to”,然后给出示范后由学生来完成,这样学生就不会觉得无从下手,不知道怎么做了。除了完成提供的图片后,然学生用“used to”来谈谈自己或朋友的过去这会让学生有说不完的话,心里上也没有觉得这是新内容的压力感,同时也能巩固对“used to”的使用。)
Step 3 Activity 1a
Let students think more words that can describe people. Then finish 1a
(修改:这部分我们在导入的时候就已经完成,所以可以把它省去,这样的话学生就不会觉得重复、啰嗦。)
Step 4 Listening
T: In this part, you will listen to three conversations about Bob and his friends. They are talking about what his friends use to look like.
Now, now listen to the tape and finish 1b.
The second time, check your answers.

Nest, check answers.
Step 5 Practice
Let the students look at the pictures in 1a.And use the information in 1a to make conversations
Then ask some pairs to show us.
Step 6 Homework
Use “use to ”make sentences about yourself or your friends.
(修改:使用“used to ”造句在前面我们已经得到了许多的练习,因此在作业部分可以要求学生去写下我们学校过去到现在发生的一个改变,这样面对他们所熟悉的痕迹,他们就有说的。)
