PartI. The analysis of the teaching material
Lesson 19 is a dialogue. The lesson is focused on the animal’s kinds and how to point out directions in a certain area .At the same time, let Ss master the sentence patterns of the above focus.
PartII.Teaching aims
1) Knowledge aims:
a. Enable the Ss to recall the new words about animals they have learned and what kind of animals are they in Unit 3.

PartVI.Teaching theories:

PartVII. Teaching methods:
In this topic, I will use five-step Teaching Method and Task-based Language Teaching.
Pair work and Group work method.
Teaching procedures
Step 1: Greetings: Greet the whole class as usual( 1 min)
Step 2: Lead in and Revision(3 min ~ 5 min)
Free talk activity:
Ask Ss the following questions:
Have you ever been to the zoo?
Can you list the animals you saw in the zoo? (Ask them to list the animals as many as possible .)
After they finished listing, show them all the words of animals on the projector and correct their pronunciation of those words.
The purpose is to arouse Ss interest of the class and review the words they have learned in Unit 3.
Step3: Introduce four basic directions and sentence patterns in this lesson and then ask them to finish the listening exercise in section A.(8min)
North; south; west; east.
What kind of animal is a...?
It’s a...?
I want to see it . Where should I go ?
You should go to ...?
Where is ...?
It’s in the ... of the zoo?
Step4: pair work and group work(20 min ~ 25 min)
a.After they finish the listening exercise ,ask them imitate the dialogue. Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation. In this step Ss are required to practice the sample in section B in pairs by reading the dialogue aloud. At last, I’ll ask them to think hard and act it out with a partner according to the sample in section B.
b.Divide the students into several groups and ask them to prepare their own role play in the zoo , which based on the sentence structures in section B and section C and they can use the expressions about the topic they have learned before . Then find out which group will act it out best. I’ll give them red stars to praise them.
I’ll give them one example and they can create their own dialogue:
A: What’s you favorite animal in the zoo?
B: ...
C: what kind of animal is it ?
B: It’s a ...
A: we want to see it, where should we go ?
B: you should go to ...
C: where is ...?
B: It’s in the ... of the zoo.
The other way is to give them a situation: suppose one person of your group is a guide, others are the tourists. You want to see pandas but you don’t know where to see it. You see the guide and ask him /her the way.
This step is aimed to let the Ss have a chance to practice their listening and spoken ability intensively and cultivate their abilities of thinking.
Step5: Consolidation and homework.(3min~4min)
Make a dialogue according to section C and write it in the exercise book.
Purpose: It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercise after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned in this lesson.
PartVIII.Teaching reflection:
a. To find out whether Ss master the sentence patterns in this lesson or not and whether they can use them to communicate with their classmates.
b. To evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of my teaching and try to do it better next time.
