在英语中，经常会用一些表示时间的名词短语引导时间状语从句，这些名词从语法意义上，已经充当连词来引导从句，常见到名词短语有：

1. the moment, the minute,the instant,the second等，这类名词短语由定冠词the+表示时间单位的名词构成含义上表示“一……就……”，相当于as soonas. 如：

He said he’d turn on the TV the moment he got back home.

Tell him the news the minute you see him.

2. next time,the first time,last time,every time等，这类名词短语直接用作引导时间状语从句，含义与自身名词的含义相同。如：

Be sure to call on us next time you come to our city

He fell in love with her the first time he met that beautiful girl

Every time I see him he wears a pleasant smile.

3. by the time 也可以引导时间状语从句，意为“到……时为止”，主句一般用完成时态。如：

By the time he was fourteen,Einstein had learned advanced mathematics all by himself(从句一般为过去时，主句要用过去完成时)

I shall hae gne to ced by the time you reyurn.（从句为一般现在时，主句要用将来完成时）

1. It/This is the +序数词+time(that)…that从句通常用现在完成时。如：
