As a single parent, I had to be both Mum and Dad to my two little children. I succeeded in getting both kids to bed. They lay down in their beds, and then I began singing the kids’ favorite song. I sang it over and over again until they seemed to be asleep.
As a single father, I was trying to give my children a happy life. I got up slowly and carefully in order not to wake them up again.
Sitting in the dining room, I thought about dinner, bath time, stories time, the songs, and finally there was a short moment for myself.
Suddenly it hit on me: the hard work, the weight of the responsibility, the bills (账单) and loneliness. I felt as if I were at the bottom of a great sea of loneliness. Unexpectedly, tears came into my eyes. I sat there, silently sobbing.
Just then, a pair of little arms went around my waist. It was my five-year-old son.
I was embarrassed to be seen crying. “I’m sorry, Ethan. I didn’t know you are still awake. I’m just a little sad tonight.” “It’s OK, Dad. It’s OK to cry because you’re just a person.”
I can’t express how happy he made me. He seemed to say that I didn’t have to always be strong, and it was sometimes possible for me to feel weak and let my feelings out.
We hugged and talked for a while, and I took him back to bed. I fell asleep instantly. Thank you, my son.

For movie goers who are animal lovers and people who are thirsty for a connection with nature, Wolf Totem is the best choice for a pleasant afternoon.
Based on Jiang Rong’s novel of the same name, the movie is about Chen Zhen (Feng Shaofeng) and Yang Ke (Shawn Dou) being sent from Beijing to Inner Mongolia in the 1960s to live with a nomadic tribe (游牧部落). They are among the 17 million urban middle school graduates in the “cultural revolution” (1966-76), who answered Chairman Mao’s call to go to work and live with local villagers in poor provinces. After saving the life of a baby wolf, Chen becomes captivated (迷住) by the ferocious (凶猛的), quick and intelligent animal.
French filmmaker Jean-Jacques Annaud has showed that he knows how to create a movie about wild animals. While watching a pack of wolves make a surprise attack (袭击) on gazelles (小羚羊) from a hidden position, I held my breath just like Chen and local leader Bilig. And during a night snowstorm, as the wolves ran after a group of horses, I could feel the main character’s desperation (绝望) rising from my throat.
British animal trainer Andrew Simpson spent three years raising and training a group of wolves for this movie, watching them grow from babies to adults. During the shooting of the movie, Feng Shaofeng would play with the wolves, feed them and clean their homes. This helped Feng develop a deeper understanding of wolves. He told us, “Wolves can treat you as friends, but never as owners.”

Recently a group of Danish architects has come up with a zoo design that could let people safely watch animals. Animals won’t feel like they’re imprisoned.
In this zootopia (动物乌托邦), the humans are hidden from animals in shelters and mirrored (反射) pods (吊舱), while the animals wander around continents.
To keep people safe, visitors travel around the zoo by using bridges, boats and tunnels (隧道) hidden below the ground. They will then be able to hide inside shelters and pods as the animals pass by.
At the heart of the design is a huge circle square that lets people climb up to look down on the parklanD.People can watch bears, lions by the mirrored pods and by boat alongside elephants.
“We must make sure that our cities offer a place to different people from different economy, backgrounds, genders, cultures, education and ages. People can live together in harmony. “It is our dream to create the best possible and freest environment for the animals to live in. It can make the animals get on very well with each other. And it can also develop good relationships between animals and visitors,” said the city designer.

My Dream Senior High School Life
This year, my junior school life will be over and I am going to enter senior high school. Everything is new to me. I’m looking forward to the colorful life in senior high school.
I hope there will be a large and quiet library in my dream senior high school so that I can read many different kinds of books in my spare time. Also, I expect the classrooms will be clean because the good environment can help me to study harder. What’s more, I wonder what the school dining hall will be like because I like delicious and healthy food.
In senior high school, I will learn many subjects such as math, physics, English and so on. So I will face many different tasks and make plenty of mistakes, but I will learn from my mistakes and never give up. I hope my teachers will be patient and friendly because if I can’t understand what the teacher says in class, they can explain things more clearly to me. I believe he or her will be my teacher in class and be my friend after class. Maybe my teachers will be strict with me sometimes, but I know they want me to get better.
However, senior high school lessons will be much more difficult so I will put more effort in studying. First, I will improve my grades by doing more exercises. “Practice makes perfect”. Second, I will make plans for every subject. Third, I will create an interest in what I learn. For example, my math and physics are poor, I will connect something interesting with them to improve my grades.
I believe I can be good at every subject in senior high. I am looking forward to my wonderful life in senior high school.
