      It reminds me of a common phenomenon in some families. When there are some decisions for the family to make, the parents hold different opinions and turn a deaf ear to each other, not to mention the child’s ideas. For example, when it comes to what their child should major in at university, they will have a heated argument regardless of the child’s intention. 

      I think parents should try to improve their communication and take their children’s opinions into consideration so as to reach an agreement. 

As we can see in the picture, two men are standing side by side, smiling. They share one characteristic, strong in one arm, while weak in the other. I guess they smile because they find someone who can help them accomplish a task that cannot be completed by either of them alone. 

    Like the two men in the picture, we all have strengths and weaknesses, and what we can do is limited. However, weaknesses don’t necessarily mean failure, but may indicate the possibility of cooperation. By working with others, and making the best use of each other’s talents, we can always achieve a better result. 

In the picture, I can see two men are trying their best to make a bench ,  sweating a lot. But they are nailing the legs on different sides. Obviously, their efforts will be in vain.

    The picture reflects a common social phenomenon vividly. Usually to fulfill a task, people have to cooperate as a team, even though they each work very hard, they cannot complete the task perfectly because they ignore the importance of communication. Just like the two men on the picture. They work as a team and both of them do make their efforts. But unfortunately they mind their own business without communicating with each other. 

So we can conclude that cooperation needs effective communication, without which we’ll do things blindly. So before taking actions, plan things carefully and communicate well with you partners. Only in this way can we achieve our goal easily. 

In the picture, there is a woodpecker rapping a tree to cure it and the apples are falling down because of that and finally dropping into the basket on the woodpecker’s back.

From the picture, we can learn a simple principle that everyone should build a great cooperation with others then we can benefit a lot from that. Two is better than one and making friends is better than walking alone. Just like the woodpecker in the picture, you and your friend can both benefit from each other and it will lead to a happy ending.

In the picture, a big fish is being chased by a school of little fish, which has grouped itself into the shape of an even bigger fish. 

It seems that the big has a terrified look on its face. I think it has no choice but to swim away. This picture shows very well the old saying that together, individuals can make a difference. In our daily lives, it is common to come across various kinds of difficulties, but if we have many close friends who spare no effort to help us, problems are sure to be solved in the end.

As we can see in the picture, two workers are working very hard building the railroad. When their boss comes, he is shocked to find that their tracks have failed to meet the set of tracks coming from the opposite direction.

A gardener is cutting the bushes with a pair of big scissors. The bushes under his scissors look neat, tidy and in good order but they can never grow up into their full shape with wide green leaves. 

I think these trees can be compared to us young children. Trees will grow up in the future, some tall and some short. Tall trees can provide people with cool shade and short ones can help beautify our environment. Similarly, we can be brought up to play different roles in the society. The world needs variety. Variety is beauty. I hope teenagers can be given more freedom in school. We can do and learn what we really need and are interested in. Only difference can make our world colorful and enjoyable.

In the picture, we can see a man trying to get to the final destination directly by a ladder instead of following the long way to it. 

In our society, many people have got used to their common practices of settling problems, some of which are a waste of time and effort. They are unaware that there are better solutions. They should learn to think out of the box just as the man in the picture. So in my opinion, whatever we do, we should be creative and find out a most effective way. 

（1）At the first sight of the picture, we can see a giraffe attempts to eat the leaves on the tall tree, but the tree is too tall and the giraffe seems very tired.

The picture tells us that we should choose a suitable goal and try our best to achieve it. Don’t choose a goal which is too big to achieve. It is just like what happens in our life. Some of us have too much confidence in their own ability, so that they choose a big goal to achieve, but in the end they fail.

In my opinion, we should have a goal, but the goal must suit us, and only in this way can we achieve our goal.

（2） As we can see in the picture, a giraffe is making a great effort to reach for the leaves from a tall tree, sweating. No matter how hard it tries, it still cannot get any leaf. Around the giraffe, there are some small trees which are much easier for it to approach.

    The message conveyed in the picture is clear. In pursuing a dream, we might focus on only one way of making it come true, forgetting that there may be alternatives. As indicated in the picture, if the man is willing to look for other possibilities, he can find a better and more rewarding way to achieve his goal. All he has to do is to turn around, cross the bridge and walk to the tree.

As is seen from the picture, a man, annoyed with a big stone ahead of him in the middle of a wide road, is trying his best to kick the stone away, sweating heavily.

What an interesting picture! A Western young man, sitting at a table, is ready to eat a bowl of noodles. He is holding two forks the same way as we Chinese hold chopsticks. He is trying so hard to pick up the noodles that he is sweating a lot. At first glance, I think it’s a bit funny, for we Chinese take for granted that chopsticks are the tools for eating noodles. The man in the picture is trying to copy us. Obviously he is doing it the hard way. Maybe using one fork will do a better job. In my opinion, we don’t need to copy others’ ways of thinking. Sometimes a simpler way of doing things may be a better way.

In the picture we can see a boy climbing a platform. He is taking great trouble to reach the top of the stairs, ignoring the comparatively lower stairs beside him.

The picture reminds me of those who dream of achieving great success every day. They are so eager to succeed that they hope to get to their destinations as quickly as possible. They don’t realize there are longer but safer ways for them to make it. As a result, they may seem rather close to their goals, but the fact is on the contrary.

In my opinion, we should focus on the process of fighting for success. As long as every step is proper, sooner or later we will gain what we long for.

The picture shows that the fast running tap is pouring into a basin, which looks so shallow that the water keeps splashing out, with very little remaining inside.

The picture seems to tell us “haste makes waste”. The water is running fast. However, without a proper method, say, a suitable container, the goal of getting enough water will not be easy to achieve. Similarly in our life, for example, to acquire knowledge, we should find a proper method and put constant effort into what we are doing. Otherwise, just like the basin containing little water, we may also end up getting half the result with twice the effort.

In the picture, we can see a man with many books inside. While he is proud of the piles of books he has already read, he doesn’t realize that his mind is being trapped in a “birdcage”.

    I think the man in the picture represents those who have acquired much knowledge from books but don’t really know how to apply it in practice. Their way of thinking is so inflexible that they can’t think creatively. For them, knowledge is just something to show off instead of a means of improving themselves.

In the picture, we can see two turnips, one with small leaves and the other with large ones. Naturally, we may expect the turnip with larger leaves to have a bigger root. However, according to the picture, the bigger the leaves above the ground are, the smaller the root underground is. Quite ironic, isn’t it? 

I think the picture reveals this truth: we should never judge things simply by their physical appearance. As a matter of fact, in our daily life, there exist many “small turnips with big leaves”. For example, a present wrapped in a delicate box turns out to be of poor quality, or a girl with a beautiful face acts rudely in public places. Therefore, let’s learn not to be misled by “large leaves”. Remember: it is “roots”, something inside, but not “leaves”, outside appearance, that really matters.

In the picture, we can see two flowerpots. One is big and delicate, but in it grow ugly-looking weeds. The other is a small worn pot, but we see beautiful flowers with green leaves growing in it.

The picture shows clearly the idea that success doesn’t necessarily depend on favorable conditions. This is certainly true in our life. If we try hard, we can achieve our goal and be successful in spite of all kinds of difficulties. On the other hand, even though we’ve got all the favorable conditions, we can never expect achievements without efforts. So don’t depend on conditions or environment, depend on your hard work.

九、不要好高骛远

  In the picture, a man on a boat is searching for some fish with a telescope. However, his efforts do not pay off, for the net is still empty. Amusingly, a school of fish is swimming just nearby, but he completely ignores them.

What the picture conveys is that we should never aim too high, neglecting the readily attainable goal. If the man stopped focusing on the distant waters and looked around, the fish near the boat would be an easy harvest for him. This is not uncommon in our daily life. When we aim to build one ridiculously large project, we complete nothing; when we aim for a small goal, we complete it. Let’s be more practical.

十、择师不善、模仿他人、质疑他人

In the picture, a huge elephant is walking leisurely forward and above it is a small bird flying gaily ahead. There is a second bird in flight, it tries hard to follow in the tracks of the elephant.

    What the picture conveys to us is that with a powerful influence of a big shot like the elephant, some people go their own way like the bird in flight, while others blindly struggle to copy the big shot and get nowhere, like the bird making every effort to follow in the elephant’s footsteps. Therefore, in the course of pursuing our dreams, we should be aware and make use of the best of our own strengths rather than stumble behind others embarrassedly ignoring our own strong points.

As can be seen from the picture, a teacher-like cock stands on the bank, proudly and vividly explaining how to swim. His students, three ducks, float in the water, listening attentively. 

The picture wants to remind us of the importance of self-awareness. Both the cock and the ducks fail to know themselves clearly, so they make vain effort. The cock is definitely unable to swim but works as a swimming coach confidently. On the other hand, the ducks, the born swimmers, are eager to learn how to swim, even from a cock. Lack of a sound self-knowledge, they are bound to fail. As to us, we should have a right judgment to our ability and choose to do what are really suitable for us. 

As is seen in the picture, a pig, with a pair of glasses on the nose and a book in hand, is giving some hens a lecture on how to lay more eggs, while the hens are staring at the whiteboard with doubtful expression.

The simple picture conveys a profound message that we should take a skeptical attitude towards false experts and believe our professional knowledge. As we all know, hens are born to know how to lay eggs. Therefore, there is no doubt the pig is showing off before an expert, though he is dressed up like a well-educated person. In our daily life, we often meet some people who pretend to be expert in a certain field, but in fact, they know nothing, just like the pig in the picture. When these so-called experts give guidance to us, it is wise to question them first and not to accept their advice blindly. Otherwise, we may be misled.

In conclusion, on our way to success, learning is a must but questioning is also necessary.
