(教学目标的制定依据:
1.教材分析:本篇文章重点在于理解全文,知道每个人都有自己的长处,没必要羡慕别人的本领。
2.学情分析:
1)知识储备:通过Unit1 Story time的学习,学生能够理解过去时态,对文章中的动物也有一定的认识,主要是理解文章含义。
2)能力分析:学生进入六年级半个月左右,对英语的掌握已经具有较好的能力。)
Teaching key and difficult points:
1. To learn the sentences: I can’t…, but I can….
2. To enable students to realize their strengths and not to envy others’.
3. To develop the students’ abilities to learn and solve problems by themselves.

Teaching steps:
Step 1. Warm up and lead in:
Sing a song 《What can you do?》and divide students into 3 groups.
T: What can you do? You can do the action and let us guess.
(设计意图:用歌曲进行导入,调动课堂气氛,并且通过提问“What can you do?”让学生认识自己的能力并且为下文作铺垫。分组可以激发学生的团队精神和竞争意识)
Step 2. Presentation
Look and guess
(1)T: Look at the picture, what’s this? How’s it? What can the elephant do?
(设计意图:充分调动孩子们的想象力,让他们根据大象的体型或者已有的认知猜想它的能力。)
(2)T: Can the elephant fly? Today, let’s learn a story 《The little elephant wants to fly》. Let’s find what can it do?
(设计意图:通过反问大象能飞吗?进行揭题,让学生带着疑问学习内容。)
Step 3. Practice
Task1. Deal with the context
1.Listen and circle
T:Look at these pictures, do you know them? Now please listen to the tape and circle which animals are there in the story?
(设计意图:训练孩子们的听力,以及对课文的一个初步认知。)
2.Watch and match
T: Look at these animals, can you guess what can they do? (Talk with your classmates)
How about the lion and the tiger? Look at the snake, do you know it?
Look at the picture, what can you see?
Let’s watch cartoon and finish the match.
①The bird can fly. ②The snake can sleep in a tree. ③The lion can jump across a wide river. ④The tiger can swim.
(设计意图:让孩子进行小组合作,猜想这些动物的本能,并且通过观看卡通完成连线。)
3.Read and answer
T: Can these animals fly? Do they want to fly?
Can the elephant fly? What’s his ability?
Please read the story and find out the answer, you can underline the key words and sentences.
(设计意图:训练学生阅读能力,找出小象的能力,The elephants have great strength. He used his long nose as a hook and moved a large branch理解他们不能飞,但是有自己的能力。)
Task2. Happy reading time
1. Read after the tape
T: Now, boys and girls, please listen to the tape, read after it. Pay attention to your pronunciation and intonation.
2. Read the story by yourself, if you have any problem, you can ask me for help. (设计意图:帮助学生解决朗读文本时遇到的生词)
3. Work in groups
T:It’s PK time, here are three ways to read the story.
①Read the story together ②Read in roles ③Act the story out
Now, you can practice with your partners. I will give you different stars according to your performance.5minutes to prepare, go!
(设计意图:让学生自主选择阅读和表演方式,这样不同层次的孩子都可以参与到课堂中来。)
Step 4. Consolidation
1. Make sentences using “I can’t…, but I can….”

T:Which animals do you like? Why?
What can you learn from the story?
What’s your strength?
(设计意图:通过了解学生喜欢的动物,让学生了解Everyone has their own strengths.做一个情感升华,和开始的问题相呼应。)
Step 5. Homework
①Read the story and try to retell it to your parents.
②Draw your own strength and share it with your friends
(设计意图:作业是课堂的延续,让学生学会分享这个故事,并知道自己的能力。)
