1.What do you think of the relationship between human and nature?

In my opinion, the relationship between people and nature is interdependent. Nature provides us with all kinds of resources which are indispensable to our existence. Without nature, people couldn’t live. We need air, water, sunshine, food and so on. On the other hand, nature also needs human. We have reconstructed the nature and made it a better place to live with our hard work and wisdom.

2.Do you agree with the saying that human can conquer nature?

No, I don’t agree. Nature is a mighty force. All species are the result of natural selection. We can adjust to nature or in part alter nature, but we cannot conquer nature. Conquering will certainly bring devastation. We have to pay for our triumph. Environmental pollution is one result of our triumph. It now threatens our life and even our existence. We must learn and strive to co-exist with nature, because it provides us with the vital things for our lives. There is no way we may conquer nature.

3.Do you think human and animals can co-exist? Why?

I think human and animals can co-exist. As we are both in food chain and are dependent on each other, we must co-exist. Animals’ extinction will mean our human’s ending. We must do our part to co-exist with animals.

4.What might happen if human beings occupied animals’ territory?

Human’s occupation of animals’ territory might cause species extinction. Lands are cultivated for human uses, which means animals have fewer places to live. The noise of city life will drive some animals away. Woods will be fallen down for constructions. There will be less food for the animals. In this case, the number of animals will decrease steadily as urbanization goes on. Some weak or small species will definitely be doomed to extinction.

5.Can you say something about environmental changes compared with environment in the past?

Generally speaking, the global warming is one of the most apparent environmental changes. The average temperature rises in comparison with that of the past. Weather changed greatly. We have more floods and sandstorms. People suffer from extremely cold and hot weather, which did not exist in the past. Natural resources decrease rapidly. Forests disappear with high speed. The sea is not clear any more. All these are environmental changes we can observe.

6.In your opinion, what might be the cause of environmental pollution?

There are a lot of factors causing environmental pollution. Developed industry is an important one. It takes up a lot of land which used to be farmland and forests, thus it reduces the area of plants. I think the main reason is that people don’t pay much attention to environment. They only want to get more and more from environment without considering the consequences. So they pour waste water into rivers, let out poisonous gas into the air, and throw litter all around. They simply neglect all the consequences that their behavior may lead to. And what they want is profit. They won’t consider their descendants. They have no ideas of environmental protection.

7.What do you think is the severest disaster for human beings? And why?

In my opinion, the severest disaster for human life is that we murder all forms of life including ourselves by destroying the nature for temporal interests. For commercial interests or self-ambition, people cut down forests, pollute rivers, and stain the air. Deforesting causes ecological imbalance, and soil erosion occurs. Atom bombing kills the animals and trees by thousands. All these, if not ended, will finally kill all the animals and plants, and our descendants will pay for our faults. They may live in a barren world waiting for death.

8.What is the soundest relationship between nature and human?

In my opinion, the best relationship is that human makes full use of natural resources in a new way and tries to protect nature for our own sake. We try to purify water, protect animals and plants, plant more trees and restore the ecological balance. Meanwhile, we may have more strict laws against pollution, and develop our technology till more safe and efficient ways of every trade are found.

9.If you were the manager of a factory, how could you solve the conflict between economic development and environmental protection?

We must sacrifice our economic development a little for environmental protection. If our world is not suitable for living, what’s the use of high economic level? Making great efforts to adapt economic growth to the protection of nature is worthwhile. When we find the method to solve the problem that economic development brings to nature, we may develop even more quickly and keep living on the earth.

10.What measures can we take to prevent white pollution?

The only means to prevent white pollution is to stop the production of plastic bags, tableware and all ay other kinds. We must only allow the production of recyclable plastic products, which will do no harm to soil and water. Strict forbiddance should be taken to stop the production of plastic bags. Paper can be sued as a good alternative of plastic goods.

11.Would you make any suggestions about how to protect animals?

We can establish nature protection areas to protect wild animals and plants. As for some of the species close to extinction, breeding is a good way to help them. Using our medical care and nutritional technique, we may increase the population of the species and then put them back to nature. Control over pollution and all kinds of destroying activities like deforesting and poaching is the most important.

12.It seems that we are exploiting nature by using up all its resources. What shall human beings do presently when we are facing the shortage of natural resources?

We should seek more clean and lasting resources. As fuel resources are in shortage, we shall make full use of solar energy. Solar energy is clean and lasting. It is better than coal, oil or gases. As to food and ocean resources, we shall develop new technique to synthesize food, which is much more nutritious than what we now have, or we can take just a little part of ocean resources for use and let the rest live and grow.

13.Can you imagine what our human life might be like in the future?

I can imagine that in the future, our efforts to regain the natural ecology might work, and we can all live in a clean and healthy environment. There are no waste gases and no polluted water. Solar energy might take the place of coal and gas, and automobiles might be run by electric power.
