My Favorite Festival (我最爱的节日)

Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Afternoon!

I am the contestant of No. 1. The theme of my speech is My Favorite Festival.

The Crepitation of Firecrackers sends off the last year, the spring wind brings warmth into the TuSu Wine. When the glory of the sun shines thousands of homes, every family replace old peach mascots with new ones.

This is an ancient poem ‘The first Day of New Year’ made by WangAnshi, a poet of Song Dynasty. When we read the poem, a happy feeling will arise spontaneously, indeed, the Spring Festival is a traditional Chinese Festival, the most grand and exciting festival in a year. It is also our best-loved festival. The Spring Festival is the beginning of a year which is the most important holiday in Chinese tradition with another name called Celebrating New Year. It is Chinese characterized festival, the most concentrated expression of Chinese civilization

In the Spring Festival, no matter what naughty children do, the parents won’t blame them because they have no reason to destroy the atmosphere in the harmonious and happy holiday! This is also one of the reasons which we like Spring Festival.  During the holiday, our group of naughty children are always gathering together, walking on street , buying "POM" or "red spider" firecrackers and something else, joking around. Sometimes, we throw the lighted firecrackers into a gap in a wall, shortly, we can hear the passers-by screaming.  Some naughty boys walk behind some timid girls quietly, pretend carelessly and throw several firecrackers behind those timid girls, and those girls will be crying and running. It really looks funny.

I like the Spring Festival because the Spring Festival is a family reunion days. It is the happiest times when a family gather and have the dinner together on New Year's Eve. On New year's Eve, the dining table is filled with food, family members reunite and they have their family reunion dinner. That is hard to define the enriched feeling at that time. It is not only enjoying the abundant dishes, but also enjoying the atmosphere of happiness. The dinner process on New Year's Eve should be slow, that is staying-up. Staying-up tradition is for the miss of the past year, also for the best wishes of the coming new year.

I like Spring Festival because we may get gift money, regardless of the giver, or the getter are all happy. Granting gift money reflects the love of the older generation to the younger generation. I like Spring Festival because the Spring Festival is a festive holiday. People set off fireworks and firecrackers to celebrate the holiday. At the moment of midnight ring, the new year comes, firecrackers blast in the sky of all China, colorful fireworks light the earth, the sky is like a big garden, colorful "flowers" contesting. Its brightness dazzles the eyes. The firecrackers sound is a symbol of the New Year and the express of a happy feeling.

I like Spring Festival because the Spring Festival means the arrival of the Spring and the recovery of universal vegetation. When Spring Festival comes, people definitely welcome the festival with joyfulness. The Spring Festival symbolizes the reunion, prosperity and the new wishes of the future.  The world is changing rapidly.  Everything is changing everyday. But no matter what changes, the changeless things are the Spring Festival, the hope for future and the persuit of a better life. Therefore, I like the Spring Festival. I love the happiness the Spring Festival brought to me.
