Students’ Rating of Their Teachers

For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic: Students’ Rating of Their Teachers. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese.

Students’ Rating of Their Teachers

    Nowadays，the phenomenon of students’ rating of their teachers is very common. In my experience, we students were required to rate our teachers at the end of each semester. we would not give them negative comments under normal circumstances.

Different people have different views on it. some hold that Students’ Rating of Their Teachers contrary to the tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education. What’s more, their judgment is not mature enough. And it’s unfair to the teachers if the students rate their teachers with personal grudge. In addition, the way of students, rating of their teachers seems to make the education commercialized and secularized. In the contrary, some think that Students’ Rating of Their Teachers is extremely excellent because there are many teachers who are not on their duty and some even hurt students. So allowing students to rate teachers is conductive to urge teachers to undertake the due obligations. In the meantime, it changes the former convention and form a new system of mutual interaction between students and teachers which is in favor of educational development.

Have to say, both views above are justified. Well, from my viewpoint, this approach is feasible, but we mustn’t treat these comments the students give as the single standard to judge a teacher.  

大意：现在学生给老师打分的现象很普遍。就我经历的，我初中，高中每学期期末都要给老师评分，一般情况下我们是不会给差评的。

但是不同的人对此有不同的看法。有人认为学生给老师评分违背了尊师重教的传统，而且学生的判断力不够成熟，很容易掺杂私人恩怨，这对老师而言不公平。再则，学生给老师评分的做法似乎把教书育人商业化，世俗化。但另有人认为学生给老师评分实在是好极了。因为现在社会上好多老师不尽其责，这样做有利于监督，督促老师承担责任并且提高教学水平。同时，这样做改变了以往只能老师评判学生的习惯，如果老师和学生形成平等的双向的交流，有利于教育的发展。

不得不说，两种观点都在理。而我的看法是这种做法可以实行，但不能把学生给老师的评分当作评判老师的唯一标准。
