普陀山一日游英文导游词设计与开发

摘要：普陀山，作为一个佛教圣地，有着悠久的历史。它以独特的魅力吸引着成千上万的国外游客。国外游客的日益增多迫切需要有关普陀旅游的优秀的英文导游词。本文设计与开发了普陀山一日游的英文导游词，设计了一条完整的一日游旅游路线，包括了普陀山的著名景点如南海观音铜像、潮音洞、不肯去观音院、普济寺、观音古洞、二龟听法石、磐陀石、慧济寺、法雨寺等，并对这些景点进行准确、简练、通俗的英文介绍，使国外游客能在欣赏普陀山的秀美景色之余，更能领会中国佛教文化的深厚底蕴。

引 言

随着第29届北京奥运的成功举办，中国，作为一个新的力量，在世界的舞台上扮演着越来越重要的角色。奥运随之而来的是中国的旅游业成为增长最快的产业之一，特别是我国入境游处在不断上升的趋势。在这样的背景下，设计准确以及好的导游解说词显得非常必要，只有做到这一点，我们才能更好，更方便地传播中国旅游景点，特色和文化，促进中国旅游业的发展。

历史悠久、宗教文化深厚的普陀山，加之其奇葩的海山风光，每年都要吸引数以万计的国内外游客前来观光朝圣。大量国外游客的入境旅游已经成为普陀山景区蓬勃发展重要动力。但是，对普陀山旅游资源的英文导游词的开发目前还是比较欠缺。为此，本文具体地设计了一条普陀山一日游的路线，对路线所走的景点设计了英文导游词，力求准确，更加口语化，贴近西方文化，增加外国游客对普陀山的了解，使其领会普陀山秀美的景色和深厚的文化底蕴，尤其是佛教，以吸引更多的海外香游客前来普陀山旅游、观光、朝圣，促进普陀山景区入境游的发展。

How was your trip? After a long boat trip you must be very tired, so please just sit back and have a rest, don’t worry about your luggage ,they will be sent to our hotel by another bus. And it only takes us about 10 minutes to get to the hotel ,it is very fast.

      Ok, now please allow me to introduce ourselves. This is Mr.Wang, our driver, he is an experienced driver and has 10 years of driving under his belt. My name is Nancy, your local guide, and we are all from Putuo Mountain Travel Service. On behalf of our travel service, I’d like to extend our warm welcome to all of you---our distinguished friends from the other side of the Pacific.

During you stay in our Putuo Mountain, Mr.Wang and I are with you all the time, and we will try our best to make our journey a wonderful experience. If you have any problems or special interests, please feel free to let us know. As the saying goes,“Half a piece of toast is better than no bread at all.”I sincerely wish you a comfortable stay and memorable vacation here.

Now we are going forward to Radisson Putuo Mountain Manor, the first luxury boutique hotel in Zhoushan and well located five-star hotel.

II. A brief introduction of the itinerary and Putuo Mountain（行程与景区简介）

Now my dear friends, we’ll start our trip today. First of all, I’d like to have a brief introduction of the itineray today and Putuo Mountain.

Putuo Mountain ,an AAAA state tourist area, is called “Buddhish Kingdom on the Sea” and “Scenic spots in the South Sea”. And it is the Four Holy Buddhist Mountain in China as well as Jiuhua Mountain, Emei Mountain, and Wutai Mountain. 

As we all see, Putuo Mountain is a small island in Zhoushan Islands, which covers an area of about 12.5 square kilometers，now you can look around: verdant trees, strange rocks, and mysterious temples, everywhere, everything is so special and fantastic .Here , in secluded sanctuary，I bet you will enjoy a feast of natural beauty. But you know Putuo Mountain is not only famous for these ,but also as a well known  place for Guanyin，namely Holy Buddhist Mountain. It has a long history about religious activities. It can go back to Qin Dynasty, and to Tang Dynasty ,with the rising of silk road on the sea, a series of temples for worshiping Guanyin is also developed .So as a result ,it become a cradle of spreading Buddhist, even influents Southeast Aisa, Japanese, Korea and other countries.The earliest temple was built up by a Janpenese mook named Huie in 858.Today Putuo Mountain has three  marvelous treasures—Puji Temple,Fayu Temple,Huiji Temple,other 88 temples,128 huts, accommodating over thousands monks and nuns.

No matter how large the temple is,there all place the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva,so you call it the hometown of Guanyin is also fit.When comes to Feb.19-- the birth of Guanyin ,June 19 and Sep.19--monking of Guanyin , three big feasts，Putuo Mountain is always full of thousands pilgrims from all over the world .

Nowadays, Putuo Mountain has been a communicational window with foreigners.Ok,come back ,today the tour itinerary we designed for you,except for three famous temples,there are Purple Bamboo Area, Western Paradise Area ,ect.I think it won’t disappoint you,now, let’s go.

III. Attractions(景点介绍)

（I）Zi Zhu Lin Area(紫竹林景区)

1. Nanhai Guanyin Statue(南海观音像)

Ladies and Gentlemen,now,we have arrived at ZiZhulin Area. “ZiZhu”is Chinese for “Purple Bamboo”and look ahead,this is another new Putuo Mountain Buddhist architectural landmark -- Nanhai Guanyin Statue. It is the largest bronze statue of Guanyin in the world .“Should pray for one thousand one thousand, one ferry boat Often Oliver” .The belief for Guanyin in our nation,likes the belief for Jesus in west, The influence especially on women and children is great impact.

This statue opened light on the Lunar New Year 29 September 1997.It is said that on that day, the sky was full of dark clouds,as if it was going to rain,but at 8:00a.m, when the abbot Miaoshan announced to open light, a strange thing happened: the sky above the statue suddenly became golden,as if there was the Guanyin in white  that appeared in the sky, the presence of 4000 people witnessed this moment , they were all amazed.

We see ,the total height is 33 meters high,very impressive,in Buddhism the "33" has a special meaning, a kind of argument is that the embodiment of Guanyin is 32, plus the seating arrangement Pilu Guanyin is 33; another saying is that in Buddhism 3,6 , 9, is an auspicious number, using "33"means good wishes.Look at the pedestal ,it is 13 meters high,and the bronze statue is 18 meters high , the lotus seat is 2 meters.It weighs 70 tons.Ok,my friends,let’s come closer,we can take a closer look at sculpture materials,It is made up of imitation Bronze,and it is composed of 96 copper panels.To our amazed is that the Buddha face is dissolved in 6500 grams of gold,it is rare in China,even in the world.

2. Chaoyin Cave（潮音洞）

After we tour Nanhai Guanyin Statue,we’d like to tour the Chaoyin Cave. It is situated in southeast of island,in front of ZiZhulin Area.Dear friends,do you know why we name it Chaoyin Cave?In fact, The name has two means: on one hand, the shot hits the cave day and night,and the tide Pentium into the hole,the sound likes thhunder;on the other hand, by "Chaoyin" metaphor"The Buddha",The sound as if Guanyin is saying or the thousands of monks are chanting, hence name it Chaoyin Cave.It is said that in middle of Tang Dynasty(847AD), there was an Indian monk that burned his fingers in the Chaoyin Cave in order to worship Guanyin, just at that moment ,the cave suddenly blossomed, Guanyin came out,and granted him seven-color stones. Since then, this cave is covered magical color, every year,there are millions of believers to come to worship.It contains that during the Song and Yuan Dynasties there were thousands of pilgrims coming here to worship Guanyin for blessing.Even there were often pilgrims jumping off the cliff, to be reborn in the Western Paradise of the world.To Qing Dynasty,this phenomenon became more serious,so the magistrate named Ying Sui Dinghai built  the pavilion on the shore,  wrote "suicide Caution "and erected a monument to ban suicide. Pavilion has been destroyed now, but the monument is still in.You know it just a magical story,it is not true.Ok,ladies and gentlemen,you can look around in the cave ,and take some photos or you may try to seek the foot of ancient people,if luckily you are,you will find more strange things.

3. “Unwilling-to-go” Guanyin Temple(不肯去观音院)

My friends,here is “Unwilling-to –go”Guanyin Temple.About the name there is a story.It is said that during the Tang dynasty, a Japanese monk named  Hui E ,he got a Guanyin statue from Wutai Mountain,and he wanted to steal it to his country,but the strange thing happened,when he was shipping to Putuo Mountain, the original statues suddenly became extremely heavy,and his ship met with high sea tide,even rainstorm, the ship had to run aground and  drifted into the Chaoyin Cave for temporary parking.That night, Hui E dreamed one person,and that person told Hui to put the statue on the mountain, only did he do that ,the wind would take him back to Japan.Understanding his willing,so Hui E build huts and placed the statue on land.Later,one resident named Zhang, dedicated the huts of Guanyin, which is the today’s "refused to Goddess of Mercy"Temple. In 1980,in order to memory Hui E and those people ‘s deeds,“Unwilling-to-go” Guanyin Temple was rebuilt on the Chaoyin Cave.As we can see,the temple is delicate,unique with beautiful scenery,standing here,you can see the terrain extending to the sea, as if a reclining Buddha standing among the sea.

4. Puji Temple(普济寺)

Ok,now we will leave for the next attraction--Puji Temple.It is also known the "former Temple “,it is located in the south of white Huashan , under Ling Jiufeng.It is the first monastery in Putuo Mountain. The predecessor is “Unwilling-to-go” Guanyin Temple.It was built in Northern Song Yuanfeng three years (1080),and at that time it was called” Bao Tuo Temple”.The temple had gone through several destroyed , repaired and expansion after the Yuan dynasty.At last,the Qing Emperor Kangxi made people rebuild the hall and gave the Temple “Puji Temple”.Nowadays,the exsited buildings are mostly repaired during the Yongzheng (1723-1736) .There are more than 10 temples,12 halls,totaling more than 300 ,the scale is very large,so it is the largest monastery on the island.Now,we will go into the temple,but we can see the main entrance of the temple is closed, you may ask “how can we get in?”Well,don’t worry,let me explain the reason.It is said that the Emperor Qianlong lost in visiting to Putuo Mountain,and forgot to to go back.And when he returned to Puji Temple,he found the door was closed,so he knocked at the door and asked the young monk to open the door.But  was refused.Besides the monk told Qianlong that "The state has its law, the Temple also has rules. " Extremely angry ,but Qianlong had no choices and got into the temple from east door.After going back to the palace, he gave the decree:Henceforth,the main door can not open.And this was left to now.Only the heads of state come,the Buddha opening light or the abbot of monastery first come in,they will open the main door.The visitors want to enter the temple,we have to go through the side door. Ok,follow me, now,we have gotten to the main hall—Yuantong,you can find it is so large that we will feel as if hundreds of people were here but still feel wide, thousands of people crowded together but still feel board,so it is callled "living hall."Friends,look,the Guanyin statue,yes,it is different from other main hall.Generally speaking, the main hall of the temple is dedicated to Buddha,but only this main hall is dedicated to Guanyin,it is unquie.The great seating Guanyin is 6.5 meters,and the hight of the lotus seat is 2.3 meters .Around the seating Guanyin,there are 32 embodiment of Goddess of Mercy.They are different type beings to enlighten all of portraits.Out of the temple,there is Haiyin Pool,and you can see lots of lotus in the pool,just like the lotus of West Lake .If you are tired,don’t worry,you can have a rest in the Octagonal Pavilion or Royal Pavilion.It is very fit.Behind the temple,there is a stone,it is not an ordinary one,it looks like a vulture bird, so it is called  "Lingjiu stone"or “Ciyun stone”.The spring goes through the stone and runs into the temple.Today,as a center of Putuo Mountain Buddhist ,as well as the location of Putuo Mountain Buddhist Association,a series of major Buddhist activities are all held here.Well,friends,it is the time for free sightseeing,you may enjoy the impressing temple,and at 10:00,please get together here,then we will have lunch in this temple,ok ,have fun.

（II）Western Paradise Area (西天景区)

1. Guanyin Cave（观音洞）

Guanyin Cave,is also called Guanyin Temple,it is filled with incense and pilgrims all the year around.The cave is indeed a natural cave,not made by humans.It is one of the largest sarcophagus in Putuo Mountain.In the cave ,besides the statue of Guanyi, Zenzai Dragon stand on both sides,the view is also unique,there are many stone Goddess of Mercy,Interestingly,there are many old bringht green trees growing in the rock cracks,especially there is a big camphor ,it is such shade that looks like a big umrella ,and it has been a must.

2. Rock of Two Tortoises Listening to Preaching Stone（二龟听法石）

Now we can see two stones, they look exactly like sea turtles, one tortle squats the cliff top, looking back , it seems to be waiting ; the other turtle on the smooth stones, heads extension of neck,climbing the stone,it seems very tired. They are very expressive.About the stone there are two different stories.One story said that two turtles were sent by Dragon Emperor to come to listen the preaching of the Goddess of Mercy, because they were listening so carefully that forget  the returning date,then years by years,they became two stones.The other story said that these two turtles ,one was a male and the other was a female,when they were listening,they were staring in each other’eyes,so they were became two stone turtles as punishment.Two stories are both wondful,aren’t they?

3. Pantuo Stone（磐陀石）

Not far from Meifu Temple, there is a big rock,it seems shaky ,isn’t?But in fact it is very hard. According to the lagend,before going to Jiuhu ,the gold hidden meditated on this stone and left the relic,after that people called "meditation stone " to "Pan Tuo stone. "Look,at the cliff there was written “ first practical possession of golden hidden”.

（III）Foguang Summit(佛光顶)

1. Huiji Temple（慧济寺）

Go through the mountains,with flowers and trees, do you feel fresh?It is tired to climbing but it is worth,ok,now,here we are,look,Huiji Temple,it is different from Puji Temple, the entire temple is surrounded by deep  forest, and everywhere you can see there are many different flowers and old trees ,it is absolutely quiet, standing here,the scenery of the island will fill with your eyes.Well,friends,come with me, maybe you know Fodingshan Temple or "Pusa Ding",yes,they are other names for Huiji Temple . It was built in the early Ming Dynasty, and the whole temple covers an area of 20 mu, the building area is 3,300 square meters, The whole temple includes the king rear layout, Main Hall, Dabei Hall, the Sutra Hall, Yu Huangdian, abbot room and they are all on the same parallel line. these show the skills and wisdom of designers. The architecture has a flavor of Zhedong ,it is rarely seen in other Buddhist temple.Let’s look at the main Hall,it is the highest temple in the Putuo Mountain, the whole roof was built with a sky blue, light green, light yellow, purple and other color glazed tiles, with the sunshine ,it looks like  "Buddha Light Illuminating"the spectacle, it is truly spectacular. There is an unique tree,or one "hornbeam" that is found by ZhongGuanguang at the back door on the leftfound in 1930, and he named it "Putuo Carpinus".It is rare species in the world. Ok,you can walk around the temple by yoursevles.

2. Fayu Temple（法雨寺）

Ladies and Gentlemen,now ,we will visit the last place of this tour—it is the second Temple in Putuo Mountain,Fayu Temple. because it is located after Puji Temple, it is also called "AfterTemple. "But do you know why we call it Fayu? Ok,let me tell you: Yu means “Rain”, Buddhists balieve Buddhism can moisture beings,just like the rain moistures things,so name this temple “fayu”.Well,the temple was built in the Ming Dynasty,and it experienced many catastrphes,In the Qing Dynasty,the Emperor Kangxi wrote “Tianhuafayu”for it,after that “Fayu Temple”became the temple’s name.To the Emperor Yongzheng,he extended the temple on a large scale , today Fayu  Temple covers an area of 33,408 square meters and there are 294 existed temples. Before we go into the temple,we can find that from the far sight, Fayu Temple was built by the mountain,the temples on the platform is in increased step by step.

The mountain to take the potential breakdown of six on the platform is very marvelous.Ok,now,follow me,please,let’s visit this famous temple in the southeast.

The road we are walking is called “Yutang Street”.It is due to in the past,there were a number of monasteries on both sides,and a lot of special stones on the mountain,so many things and attracted people from other places,it liked a market as today,so call it “Street”.Go on,now we are geting through the pond of the temple,it covers an area of 1,800 square meters, in history the seeds produced from this pond was as a tribute to the imperial count.

The bridge over the pond is named “Haihui Bridge”meaning that the place for the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas coming together.

Here we are,Fayu Temple is in the front of us.Frist let’s look at the most famous views of the temple --"Kowloon palace. " The 120,000 glazed tiles is said removed from the Ming palace in Nanjing,so the palace is built with a Royal impression.Ok,next look at Kowloon Wall,it is a new attraction,look,the drages were carved so delicately and vividly,if you are careful encough ,you can find it is matched with 60 carved bluestones of 70cm square,to our surprised,it was matched without a trace,we have to praise their skills.And the most characteristic of which is Kowloon caisson,it is known as one Sambo of Putuo Mountain.

Well,now the statue we are looking at is the 10-meter-high piro Statue ,so the place is also called "Goddess of Mercy Temple in Kowloon."On the other side of the wall there is a spectacle--"Island Goddess of Mercy”On the picture there is heaven,dragon palace......and many vivid characters,the whole screen’layout is very resonable,if you are interested ,you may take a closer look.
