2015-2016大学英语口语考试试题

2009-2010学年第2学期大学英语口语考试试题及情况说明

考试时间：初步定为四级考试后，具体时间以及考场安排细则另行通知。

考试形式：

本次口语考试以三人为一组（学生按学号顺序分组，不得随意组合；若学生人数不被三整除，后面几位学生两人一组）。

现场抽签后共同完成一组话题。学生的论述应以提供的问题为主要线索，可以对问题进行分析综合后阐述，无需按照问题的先后顺序一一作答。组员之间要团结协作，合理分工，话题讨论的整体性及组员之间交替论述问题的衔接性将是评定该组表现的重要依据之一；其次，组员单独论述时一定要注意观点鲜明，论证有力，论述充分，论述要有逻辑性和相对完整性，切忌“一句话式的论述”。每位组员的论述不得少于一分钟，每组论述的总时间不得少于五分钟。

特别说明：请老师们于第十三周向学生公布口语考试内容，对学生的口语考试进行相关指导。鼓励同组学生分工协作，除了参阅综合教程及听说教程教材外，学生可运用其他途径进行相关准备。老师们对于学生的观点阐释部分，尤其是个人论述部分如何进行完整性逻辑性的阐释，应进行一定的指导。本次口语考试为集体讨论，因此，讨论如何开始，如何展开，话题的传接，观点的交锋，以及讨论的结束，都是本次考试关注所在。所以，同组学生如何运用沟通交流技巧，自然流畅地传递话题并继续话题，老师们一定要强调说明。

    每个大话题下的小问题系提示，学生可以不严格按照问题内容讨论，只要与大题目相关，视为允许。

1. Topic Area: Business (Unit 6, Listening and Speaking Course 2)

 Questions:

Would you like to work in a business company after you graduate? Why or why not?

What qualities are needed to get a promotion in a company?

What is it like to work in a business company?If you have friends or relatives that work in a business company, you may take their examples to convince your partners.

If you were an employer, who do you expect from your employees? 

What factors does a company usually take into consideration when they want to choose a team leader?

What do you think is more important in getting a job, education background or experience?

2. Topic Area: Disasters (Unit 10, Listening and Speaking Course 2)

Questions:

What are natural disasters? And what are man-made disasters?

Describe an accident or a disaster you yourself have experienced or one you have read or heard about. When, where and how did it happen?

What are the chances of survival in an accident/a disaster？State your suggestions. 

What can we do to help people in a disaster-striken area?

What should we do to prevent man-made accidents or disasters?

Comment on recent disasters frequently came forth world wide? For instance, Yushu Earthquake, the volcano eruption in Iceland.

3. Topic Area: Human Virtues (Unit 13, Listening and Speaking Course 2)

Questions:

Can you name some good qualities that human beings possess?

What kinds of virtues are recognized by our society? 

What kind of virtue do you value most? Why?

Do you believe good will be rewarded with good and evil with evil?

Comment on the saying: Honesty is the best policy. 

4. Topic Area: Environment (Unit 15, Listening and Speaking Course 2; Unit 8, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

What do scientists and environmentalists say about the state of our environment at

present?

Is pollution a major environmental problem in developed countries? What about the

pollution in developing countries?

What is more important, economic growth or the environment? Why?

Which is more effective in protecting the environment, individual efforts or government policies?

5. Topic Area: The Internet / The Virtual World (Unit 16, Listening and Speaking Course 2; Unit 4, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

What are the negative and the positive effects of a virtual life?

Which do you prefer, a virtual life or the real life? Why?

Suppose your parents argue that you and your brother/sister are spending too much

time on the Internet, neglecting your schoolwork and normal daily life, which is a

total waste of your time. You want to convince them that your time on the Internet is

not wasted.

What do you do on your company nowadays? How much do you rely on the Internet for company?

Comment on key pals or cyber-love. 

6. Topic Area: Ways of Learning (Unit 1, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

Do you think the school is the best place of learning for children? Why or why not?

 What is the purpose of education?

 What do you think is quality education?

 When you have a child, would you like to educate him or her exactly like

westerners do? Why or why not?

  Do you agree that both Chinese and Americans take an extreme view of creativity? What do you think would be a more rational approach to fostering creativity and basic skills?

7. Topic Area: Famous People / Values (Unit 11, Listening and Speaking Course 2; Unit 2, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

  Can you name some famous people you know about? Who impresses you most?

Why?

  Do you know anything about Alan Greenspan? How come his name is on

everyone’s lips in the United States?

  Generally speaking, what do people who become famous have in common?

If you should become the richest man in China, would you live the same kind of

life as Sam Walton did? Give your reasons.

8. Topic Area: The Generation Gap (Unit 3, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

Do you often conflict with your parents? What do you think causes the generation gap?

Will you get advices from your parents or would rather learn through personal experience in facing some vital occasions?

How can we overcome generation gap? Provide some suggestion.

9. Topic Area: Overcoming Obstacles (Unit 5, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

How did dreaming and hard work contribute to Michael’s success?

How do you understand the title “True Height”? 

Do you know any other similar stories as Michael’s? What are their character traits?

Text B falls into a quite different category of character sketches, a rather selfish cripple. What do you think people who are disabled should treat their own defects appropriately instead of being self-pity?

10. Topic Area: Learning about English (Unit 7, Integrated Course 2)

Questions:

What do you think of Jespersen’s remark “The English language would not have been what it is if the English had not been for centuries great respecters of the liberties of each individual…”? Give reasons.

What do you think has made English “the first truly global language”?

Till now, in our country, some people still complain that we emphasize too much on English learning, which is not necessary. Do you agree with them? Why or why not?

What are comparatively more efficient ways of mastering English language in such an EFL learning environment in China?
