观点类文章是就某一事或某一现象,或是他人议论的事物发表自己的看法.常用的标题有 “My View on…”谈论事物的正反两个方面。

 Different people have different views on…Some people think that... while others argue that…

As far as I am concerned, I agree with the… opinion. For one thing, I firmly believe…For another，… Just think of… 

   Taking all these factors into consideration，we may safely come to the conclusion that… Only if… can we…just as the saying goes…

Different people have different views on opportunity. Some people think that there are few opportunities in the world, while others argue that everybody will have some kind of opportunity along his life route．

As far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter opinion. For one thing, I firmly believe opportunities are everywhere around us. No person will be unlucky enough to have no opportunities all the time, because “every dog has his day”．For another, since opportunities are transient we have to make good preparations and improve ourselves．Just think of Newton，who discovered the Law of Gravity when many people had watched an apple falling ahead of him．

 Taking all these factors into consideration, we may safely come to the conclusion that there are quite a few opportunities in our society. Only if we get prepared can we seize the opportunities instead of letting them slip by, just as the saying goes, “Opportunities are only for the prepared minds”.

         My View on Job-hopping

People's opinions are always different once they talk about job-hopping. Those who never change their job throughout their life maintain that they have accumulated enough experience to work smoothly and efficiently, so what's the point in changing to another job? They also firmly believe that anyone who wants to excel in his specialty has to work hard on the same post for years to acquire the required skill and knowledge.

Many people think otherwise. On the one hand, if the present job can offer neither satisfactory working conditions nor future opportunities, they will not hesitate a moment to leave. On the other hand, they hold that life is but once and job-hopping can provide rich and exciting experiences.

My own opinion is that job-hopping, in this fast-developing information era, has become more than common and acceptable. If we want to keep pace with the times, we have to change for the faster, the higher and the stronger. If life is a journey, we have nothing to regret so long as we put meaning into it. So why not make a change?

Recently there have been many reports of amalgamation of universities. It turns a new page of advanced education in China, and will have far-reaching effects in the forthcoming years.

The biggest benefit, in my eyes, is that the merging often results in a comprehensive university with increased overall strength. To take part in international competitions, we need more universities of this kind. In addition, the integration of staff members will significantly improve the quality of both teaching and research. Finally, reorganization will optimize the disposition of limited resources, which is the symbol of successful educational reform. Apart from the benefits mentioned above, we should also face several unavoidable challenges. In the first place, the integration process itself will be difficult even painful—many people may need to sacrifice their own interests for the whole university. In the second place, the management of such big universities is not easy at all. 

What’s the most important, the most successful university is not necessarily the largest one or the one with most students—the key lies in the unique spirit of the university. Only when we deal with these problems successfully can we benefit the most from university amalgamation.

 Recently it has become a common phenomenon for college students to have two majors at the same time. In this way, they can get double BA degrees when they graduate from the university several years later. 

Although it may bring unfavorable consequences, we can be sure to conclude that this practice is favorable on the whole. To begin with, most students will become more hardworking and efficient in order to finish the learning tasks satisfactorily. More over with two degrees at hand after graduation, they will stand a better chance in the job market full of fierce competition. In the third place, as for today's university students, tuition and fees are becoming more and more expensive. If they can make achievements in study at school and find a satisfactory job afterwards, it will not be a big problem. 

Weighing the pros and cons of such a new trend, we can naturally arrive at the conclusion that it is beneficial and rewarding. This system not only compels students to work hard, but also prepares them for the coming competition.

In recent years, college students are allowed to join the army during their academic years. After two years of military service they can return to their original universities.

In my mind, I welcome this practice with applause. For one thing，the strict training will be invaluable to a young man, making him stronger both in body and in mind. For another, the recruitment of college students will help improve the quality of PLA soldiers as a whole, because they possess professional knowledge and skills. In addition, it is also a crucial move to help students be more patriotic and responsible, linking personal fortune with the future of our motherland.

We are very happy to see the smooth implementation of this new policy. Judging from what we have discussed above, we have every reason to look forward to more such policies which are both beneficial to individuals and the whole nation.

My View on Universities' Moving to Suburbs

The past decade witnessed the process of many universities' moving out of the downtown area and into the suburbs. On the whole, this strategic shift is beneficial in many respects.

First and foremost, the moving period is the critical period for development and expansion. With the support of the municipal government, the university can build more buildings, enroll more teachers and buy more equipment to keep pace with the times and meet the needs of enrollment expansion. In the second place, both teachers and students will be in a better mood to learn lessons and do researches together when they are far from the noises and the temptation of the city. Third, although some teachers may take longer time to go to work, it will not be a serious problem any longer with the development of public transportation system. Last but not the least, as for the historic university buildings, we can continue to protect them and make good use of them. In fact, many universities will only have branches in the suburb, and the main body will stay there unchanged.

Consequently, we can see clearly that moving to suburbs is beneficial to a university's development. It is also good to both teachers and students who want to make greater progress in their specialized fields.

My View on Opening Psychological Courses

  Recently, more and more educators and common citizens suggest that universities and colleges open more courses which are helpful for students' psychological health. Personally, I fully agree with their proposal for the following reasons.

On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment and job-hunting in the future may lead to many psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and even despair, and the psychological courses open a door for communication and relaxation. On the other hand, such courses can teach students how to regulate feelings and emotions under different situations, which are a good preparation for the future life in the complex social network. Finally these courses also introduce good habits which are conducive to mental and psychological health. To be mature and qualified citizens in the society, students have to do more than study hard.

In a word, I warmly welcome the establishment of psychological courses in universities. In my mind, they are good for students' psychological development.

My View on Retirement Age

For many years men retire at the age of 60 and women retire at 55. Recently more and more people claim that this regulation has been out of date. As far as I am concerned, I also think it should be modified according to the specific situation.

First, with the development of science and technology, people live longer and longer, and more and more people are in the prime of life when they turn 60. It is unreasonable for us to stick to the old regulation for many years. Second, for professionals such as scientists and teachers, it is especially the case, because the road to qualification and sophistication needs years of accumulation and hard work. Last but not least, the regulation is unfair for women, who are expected to live longer than men in general.

 In brief, I suggest that the present regulation be modified to cater for the needs of different people at different working positions.

My View on School Uniforms

Nowadays more and more high schools and elementary schools ask students to wear uniforms when attending school. Many people, however, argue that such practice deprives the children of their own choice, so it is harmful for their personality development. I cannot agree with them on this occasion, for the following reasons.

On the one hand, uniform grants the students a strong sense of identity--it makes the students proud of the school or the city they belong to. It is also helpful for the establishment of solidarity between peers. On the other hand, the easy identification of students is important for the society—they are not allowed to enter such entertainment places as Internet bars and nightclubs. Last but not least, students are still allowed to wear whatever they like on holidays. For example, parents can take their child to parks and museums on weekends.

In a word, school uniforms are necessary for students in that they are beneficial for the healthy development of children.

My View on College Students' Taking Part-time Jobs

Nowadays more and more people voice growing concern over college students' taking part-time jobs. Some people argue that it is unquestionably beneficial to the students in that it can enlarge their horizon and enrich their experience, while others firmly hold that part-time jobs of all kinds are harmful so as to hinder the students' normal college study.

Personally. I think this question should be probed in depth. On the one hand, the first group is not totally correct because not all part-time jobs are beneficial and not harmful. Students are somewhat immature and easily led astray by those money-addicted employers. On the other hand, the second opinion seems not so satisfactory because we also witness successful examples in universities home and aboard. Early working experience can be invaluable as the preparation for future career.

From what has been discussed above, we can see clearly that the key lies in whether the student in focus is able to strike a successful balance between work and study. Otherwise, the college life will be caught in the so-called vicious circle no matter whether the student takes part-time jobs or not.
