C: Have you ever tried online dating May?

M: No, I haven’t. What’s wrong?

C: (说carrie的一个朋友的网络约会经历)

M: Wow, so miraculous！What’s the result?

C: (说完结果)

M: Sometimes people are quite nervous about internet dating sites, because they’re not sure what kind of people they might meet. And people sometimes have prejudice

C: In fact, people you meet on the internet are just the same as anybody you might meet anywhere. When you go online, you quickly overcome your prejudice.

M: So why do people make friends with opposite sex through the network, rather than the traditional way of communication，face to face ?

C: Some people choose friends through the network, the main reason of that is a completely new way of making friends，and they think it’s interesting. 

M: even if you live in a big city like Beijing with millions of people, it can be surprisingly difficult to meet people. Now, one thing which is interesting about internet dating sites is that you can re-invent yourself.

C: Yes! When you create a profile, you only tell people certain things about yourself, and you can create an idealized version of yourself.

M: So on the network, are all profiles false? And everyone tell a lie?

C: No, not always! People don’t always entirely tell the truth about themselves. And they aren’t always completely honest about their age. Sometimes, the photos on the internet site aren’t always the most up-to-date.

M: But If you actually want to go on to meet somebody offline, it will be counter-productive

C: So, some people do lie, but if you really want to meet people through internet dating then you don’t go far from the truth.

M: Yeah! If you do this, the appointment of people might not be interested in you!

C: Sometimes I found it difficult when we meet people face-to-face who we’d talked to online.

M: but is it safe to meet net friends？ 

C: Well, it could be dangerous, as somebody could be lying about why

they want to meet you, or about what they are like. But it can be safe

if you take certain precautions.

M: what kinds of precautions should we take?

C: You should bring your mobile phone, and tell somebody where you would meet, But remember you should meet in a public place!

M: So, when people go to internet dating sites, are they looking for love, or just for fun? 

C: Initially, some people feel lonely, they’ve come out of a long-term relationship, so they’re looking for love. But as they grow in confidence, they start to enjoy dating simulation. they’ re meeting different kinds of opposite sex. 

M: but still have several people found their partner through online dating!

C: There is one more advantage to internet dating: that it’s much easier if you decide you don’t like someone. a click of a button and they’re gone.
