Teaching Procedures
Step1. Warming-up and Lead in
1.Watch a video about the present participle.
2. Review what they have learned.
Purpose of my designing:Watching the video can stimulate students’ interest in learning English and attract attention.
Step2. Presentation
1. (Show some pictures of the weather)
Let students look at the pictures and ask them how the weather is. Students learn the new words and expressions with the help of thepictures.
2.Chant the new words with me.
3.Show some signs of weather ask some students to speak them out.
4. Play a “word jump”game.( I will give some students cards with different words, student who holds the word should jump and speak the word out.Then, he/she say a different word about weather. The student who holds the different word should jump and speak the word out. If he/she doesn’t jump, he /she is out.)
5.Look at the pictures in 1a. Then read the new words on the right. Ask the students to match the words with pictures and check the answers. Purpose of my designing: Students can learn and remember the new words through the game. I think playing word game is a good way to remember words well in relaxing atmosphere and raise their interests’ in English learning.
Step 3. Listening
1. Now let's look at the city names in the box in 1b. students read the cities after the teacher.
2. Now, We’ll hear four conversations. Listen carefully, point out each city in the picture as it comes upon the tape. Play the recording a second time. Ask students to write the name of the city in the picture ofits weather.
3. Check the answers.
Purpose of my designing: Students should prepare for the listening,they should familiar with the key words in the listening material.Through listening, students could understand the usage of present progressive tense. And listening is a good method of inputting, and these simple sentence are combined with the famous cities, so students could raise their interests in listening and speaking.
Step4. Pair work
1. Tell the Ss: If you are in one of the places in the picture above. Talk about the weather with your friends in another city on the phone.
2. Make a model with a student like this:
T: Hi! How's the weather in Beijing?
S1: It's sunny.
3. Students work in pairs. Ask and answer about the weather in the cities.
Purpose of my designing: Task-based method and Communicative method are used here to develop the students’ ability of communication and also their cooperation will be trained.
Step5. Group work
1.Show students a chart with information and sentence structures.
2. Divide students into groups and make a weather report .
3.Ask several students to make a weather reporter in front of the class. Purpose of my designing:Group work can cultivate students’ team spirit. The most important is improving their speaking ability and writing ability. Meanwhile, they can grasp the sentence patterns and new words through this kind of activity.
Step 6 Summary
Summarize the sentence pattern and key language points.
Purpose of my designing: Students can understand the sentence pattern better.
Step 7 Exercise
Do some exercises and check the answers.
Purpose of my designing: Excises can check the outcome of what they learned and consolidate the knowledge.
Step 8 Moral education
1. Show some pictures about hazy weather.
2. Let students know the importance of protecting our environment and love our nature .

Watch the TV and record the weather condition in your province and fill the following table, then be a weather reporter again. Use the new knowledge to tell the information you got to all of the students in the next

Purpose of my designing:This homework is to let them use English language into their daily life. They could also understand that they can learn English from their daily life. Since this homework is based on the other places’ weather condition, they could also can develop their comprehensive ability.

本课时是整个单元的第一课时,主要教学目标是通过本课的学习,让学生学会用英语进行简单的谈论天气。针对本课的教学目标,我分别确定了本课的教学重点、教学难点和教学关键。本课的教学重点是希望通过本课的学习,让学生学会并使用表示天气状态的形容词及现在分词:sunny, cloudy, windy, snowing, raining 。本课的教学难点是让学生通过本课的学习学会并使用表示天气的句型:How's the weather? It's sunny.和What's the weather like ? It's raining.
