本课是Unit 9 Can you come to my party?的写作训练模块,主要围绕本单元的话题“邀请”展开。通过阅读Larry Smith 的邀请信,学生完成相关学习任务并整体把握邀请函的书写格式和内容,进而完成一份邀请朋友的邀请函和一份礼貌地接受邀请或拒绝邀请的回复函。
二、教学目标
1、掌握下列生词与短语:
concert,headmaster ,event,guest,dress smartly, encourage,opening ceremony , on the morning of…, reply in e-mail to…
2、复习邀请信的表达方式,阅读相关邀请信并能获得相关信息,回答问题。
3、能够综合运用所掌握的知识并根据相关提示来完成写一个简单的邀请信的任务。
4、复习本单元所学的重难点内容,及时巩固提高。
5、通过本课的学习,学生学会有礼貌地邀请他人和答复他人邀请的方式

Step1 : Greetings and lead-in

T: Lin Yujuan, can you come to my son’s birthday party tomorrow night?
T: Zeng Sila,can you come to my house tomorrow night? Can you help out with any of the party preparations,like thinking of games to play?
T:Ji Zhengming, can you come to my son’s birthay party ?
T:I want to invite all of you to the party. Can you come to my house tomorrow night? Please reply in writing or in e-mail by this evening.(板书教学:reply in writing to,reply in e-mail to,)
T: Oh,I want to invite your math teacher ,Mr Chen Yunbo to the party,too. And I need you to help me write an invitatin.So, today we’re going to learn how to make an invitation ,accept an invitation and refuse an invitation politely.
Step2:Reading
1.Introduce Larry Smith and the opening ceremony by pictures,then teach key words: headmaster, opening ceremony ,event, guest.
2.Ask students to read the invitation quickly and answer two questions:
Q1: Who is making the invitation?Q2: Who is the invitation for?
3.Read the invitation again and find out the answers to these questions:
What is the invitation for? When will the event happen?
What will happen after this? Do parents have to do anything?
How should people reply to this invitation, and when?
Then check answers by asking several students to point out the sentences they are according to.
4.Read the invitation together
5.Discuss how to make an invitation and what we should write about in an invitation.
T: What information can we get from the invitation? It tells us about… ?
6.Groupwork:put the sentences in the right order as soon as you can.
Step 3: Writing
1.Help English teacher to invite MrChen by e-mail
T:I would like to write an e-mail to invite your math teacher. What do you think I should write about

Then ask students to write the invitation in 5 minutes. One student writes on the blackboard.
Then invite a student to underline the key information including :kind of party,when and where it will be, guests reply or not ,when and how to reply.Finally,let another student correct the mistakes.
2.Reply to an invitation
T: Can you come to my house tomorrow night? If not, Please give some reasons . Now reply in writing in 5 minutes.Ask two students to write on the blackboard,one accepts the invitation,the other writes a refusal and a reason.
Then correct the mistakes together.
Step4: Culture index
1.In the west, if you receive an invitation, be sure to answer quickly. If you turn down, you should tell the host you can’t come and give some reasons. If you can accept, make sure of your host’s telephone number. 2. Usually in the west it is formal(正式的) to invite others. People often use face-to –face invitation or invitation by e-mail, but in China, people like the invitation by phone, they think it’s very convenient.
