My interest in cooking started when I was 11, partly thanks to my mother. She didn’t really like cooking and when she did cook, I didn’t like her food. Once I was watching something about cooking on TV and I thought I could do this, so I went to the bookstore and looked for the biggest cookbook I could find.
During a year, I had produced most of its recipes(食谱) and was ready for a bigger challenge (挑战). I wanted to create my own dishes and I started cooking for more people than just my family. To my joy, my parents allowed me to build a test kitchen, I did much cooking to test my dishes in it and my skill improved quickly. Later, my mom and I set up a dinner club that organized monthly events inside my home. Now as a teen chef (主厨), I have also cooked in top-class restaurants around the country. I am not doing it for the money, but because I love cooking.
Now I know that when you stop caring whether you’ll be famous or do well, your dream will come to you.

Because of COVID-19, it’s impossible for us to travel around the world freely. But we can find pleasure from some of the most unforgettable memories from our past journeys. We asked our World Nomads community to share some of their favorite photos with us. In these photos, you can see not only beautiful places, but also something essential (本质的) about the journey, the people and even the world itself.
Of the millions of photos we’ve taken, we both really like this one of us boating in Antarctica (南极洲). It’s not the most beautiful photo we have taken, but for us it has everything we love----beautiful views, the unique(独特的) place, and adventure(冒险精神).

In February 2020, a magazine sent me to Afghanistan to write about how skiing has become so popular there. My photographer and I skied down into a tiny village, where we sat on a sunny rock and waited. Soon all of these kids started coming out of their houses with their own skis(滑雪板) and snowboards that they’d fashioned out of plastic cooking oil bottles, and some other things. This photo reminds me that nothing can hold back the youthful desire(心愿,渴望)to create and make your own fun.
------Tim Neville, travel writer
I was trying to find an apartment in Dubai a few years back. When I finally found a good one and got there, the owner of the house took me to another place. I was tired and it was late, so I accepted. When seeing the room, I kind of had a bad feeling. The room was what they called a partition ---simply a big room divided into two smaller rooms by a few bookcases. In other partitions, there lived some workers. But then I found everyone there was friendly and warm. I took a photo of some guys laughing in the tiny kitchen. It reminds me to put an open thought on things.

Which animals do you prefer to see? A baby panda or a snake? Most people choose cute animals like pandas. So cute animals usually get more attention than animals like snakes. Why don't people like snakes? The reason is simple, they're just not cute. Lucy wants to show people the importance of less cute animals, too. Who is Lucy? She's a scientist who studies animals. Lucy is especially interested in snakes because many of them are in danger of disappearing and she wants to save them. Lucy thinks people can find many TV shows about cute animals, so she writes stories on her website about less cute animals like snakes in order to get people interested in them. She also makes videos about these animals and put them online. People love her phone videos. Every animal is important in keeping the balance of nature, if we save snakes, we save other animals, too. We need to think about the future of all animals and respect all animals. Every single life matters.
