过去进行时与一般过去时区别

  都强调过去发生的事 

进行时强调过程，不一定完成。或者说：过去进行时描述背景;

过去时强调事件，一定完成, 或者说：一般过去时叙述旧事

 两者都表示过去发生的动作但过去进行时表示在过去某一特定的时间点或时间段正在进行的动作

,而一般过去时表示在过去时间完成的动作｡

例如：I was copying a letter last night. 昨晚我在抄一封信｡(可能没抄完) 

 I copied some letters last night. 我昨晚抄了一些信｡(已经打完) 

While 和 When 的区别

1. “当…的时候”,如后面连接的动词为进行时态,则用while,而when通常与瞬间性动词或延续性不强的动词连用。

       While I was sleeping, my father got home .

       I was sleeping when my father got home .

2. 如果while前后的动词都是进行时态,while可译为“与此同时”

       I was reading while my mother was cooking dinner.
