The Loess Plateau is the third largest plateau of China, which covers an area of 600,000 square kilometers with an average altitude of 1,000-2,000 meters. The majority of the plateau is covered with loess of 50-80-meter thickness and it is the most concentrated area in loess distribution and the largest area in covering depth in the world. It is a miracle created by the nature and the one and only on earth.

The Loess Plateau is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation. People began to farm on The Loess Plateau as early as 5,500 years ago. With the consistent development of the farming industry, the population on The Loess Plateau increased continuously, making it the political  and  economic  center  of  China  in  the  Qin-Han  Dynasty.  Nowadays,  with  the implement of the strategy of China Western Development, the economy of the Loess Plateau area has developed rapidly.
