In recent years, floods of parents are willing to make arrangements and decisions for their children. And there’s no denying that a majority of children take their parents’ concern for granted. According to statistics, over 80% of parents still accompany their children to universities, even examinations. In this essay, I will discuss the measures that should be taken to help students be independent and offer my view on it.

First and foremost, parents should abandon the stereotyped role in Chinese parenting and render their children free to the fascinating world. Besides, they, the children themselves, should manage their own daily stuffs. In addition, the society should set up more courses and camps for children to cultivate their capability to be independent.

As far as I’m concerned, the all-covering parenting method may give rise to severe consequences, and a spoiled child won’t be competitive in this world, which is full of fierce competitions. Thus, the whole society should attach great importance to this problem and make our contribution to avoid this.

Due Attention Should Be Given to Spelling

What is hot for 2010 in our colleges? It is the spelling mistakes. Countless students lack due attention to spelling. Taking a look around, we can find examples too numerous to list, the one may be “challenge”. Freshman and sophomore almost write this word as “challenge”. How careless they are!

Why such a phenomenon sweeps every university? Some experts attribute it to students’ inattention, because students always pay no attention to spelling. However, other experts argue, the teachers should be blamed for this situation. In my opinion, it is far beyond any reasonable doubt that both of them should exert themselves to change the spelling mistakes.

Nowadays, an increasing number of museums are admission-free to visitors home and abroad. The hidden reason behind this is not hard to analyze as there’s a growing awareness for the authorities regarding the urgency of popularization of culture, knowledge and history with every average person in our society. Only with free access to this live ‘database’, can most people fully enjoy what museums could offer to them.

However, free admission to museums might lead to some social problems as well. The most obvious problem is that it might give museums a very heavy economic burden which directly impedes the sustainable development of these organizations. As a result, our government has to work out other ways to collect funds from different channels, which might be difficult to operate or control. On the other hand, free admission attracts too many visitors, some of which might not be well-purposed and do some conscious or unconscious damage to the valuable treasures which used to be well-preserved in the museums.

As a university student, I am in favor of the free-admission conduct. Yet it is proposed that some measures should be taken to solve the potential problems caused by it. For example, museums can make some regulations to guide the behavior of visitors or set some ‘closed’ days for museums for regular maintenance. Only in this way can free-admission to museums become a long-lasting phenomenon and have sustainable development.

Nowadays, there usually exists a wide selection of electives for college students to choose from. However, students have quite different plans for their future so they always end up learning courses based on their own ideas.
