Emerging from the cartoon is a thought-provoking scene: asked about her school performance by his father, a little girl, stepping away from him, tells her father to check it out on her blog. By this scenario, the cartoonist is reminding us that Internet seemingly draws us near, but actually sets us apart.

Indeed, we have all stepped into an era of getting and staying in touch with others through internet. Each of us seems close to another under this circumstance, but not everyone has looked at the side-effect of the technology: the Internet also cut off the face-to-face communication. To be specific, in our daily life, it’s not uncommon that some teenagers may chat with total strangers online for hours, but refuse to have a conversation with their parents at home for even a minute.

Evidently, we should take a rational attitude towards this issue, but how? The media should promote the awareness of healthy lifestyle among Internet addicts. Meanwhile, social activities, either in communities or on campuses, should be launched so that internet addicts can get back to the real world. Just as what the cartoon connotes, we are masters of the web, but not mastered by web.

Indeed, we have all stepped into an era of getting and possessing all we need with money. Most of us seem to contend the value of money, but not everyone has looked at the truth: money is powerful but not all-mighty. To be specific, in our daily life, it’s not uncommon that one with huge amount money can purchase a villa, but not necessarily a warm family; one with inexhaustible wealth can enjoy a life of comfort and ease, but not a sense of belonging.

Evidently, we should take a rational attitude towards money, but how? The media should promote the awareness that wealth can only guarantee material satisfaction. In other words, we should never magnify the power of money. Just as what the cartoon connotes, immaterial wealth, such as love and well-being, can never be attained by means of money, but by our sincerity, enthusiasm and perseverance.

Trust is the most frequently mentioned concept when we are talking about interpersonal relationships. However, this virtue is hard to be built but easy to be destroyed. That is, mutual trust is commonly seen blackened rather than maintained.

This tragedy still goes on. Indeed, some people are so greedy that they can even sacrifice their fame or credibility for temporary profit. According to an investigation, compared with last year, 73 percent more false news, dishonest deals and cheating email are prevailing in the world of Internet. This did, do and will continue to lead to interpersonal distrust. This fact should arouse our attention, because human beings are social creatures that need trust-worthy social soundings.

How can we screen off these misdeeds? First comes the mass media which should remind people being honest to partners and never cheating. Promise-keeping is the second one. It is a virtue that should be fostered among the public by schools or families. We should ever bear in mind that“trust is like glass, once broken, never rebuilt.”

Computers are the most frequently mentioned concept when we are talking about the greatest inventions of recent centuries. However, this marvelous invention has caused general apprehension.That is, we may go so far in depending on computers that it is hard to imagine the life without computers.

This concern does make sense. Indeed, some people spend such a long time working on computers that they have few interactions with people in real life. According to a research, too many hours in front of a computer may lead to interpersonal isolation. This fact should arouse our attention, because unlike computers, human beings are social creatures that need face-to-face communication with others.

How can we screen off the negative effects while enjoying the benefit of this invention? First comes the mass media, which should enhance awareness of healthy lifestyle among computer-addicts.Meanwhile, social activities should be launched so that people captured by computers can get back to the real world. Just as a proverb goes, “we are masters of machines, but not mastered by them.”

Great Change in the Ratio between State-aided and Personal-financed Education

Emerging from the bar-chat is the significant change in the ratio between the state-aided education and the personal-financed one. As we can see, there has been a huge decrease in the proportion of the former, which was accompanied by a dramatic increase of the latter. Evidently, people are attaching increasing importance to their education or schooling.

Several possible reasons, as follows, can account for this phenomenon. In the first place, with the rapid improvement of our society, an increasing number of people are realizing that it is of great importance to be knowledgeable, which contribute to their choosing to be well educated at all cost. In addition, although personnel from all backgrounds and occupations are needed to engage in the construction of our country, it has become a heavy burden for the state to finance college education. Therefore, the change mentioned above is inevitable.

This change has had and will continue to have major impact on both individuals and the society. As far as individuals are concerned, with state-aided education a fading memory, they have to strive for their own schooling by seeking financial aid by all means. As for the state, she is now able to lay down the burden to create increasing opportunities for people to be fully developed.
