Maybe you have seen this in schools: some students are studying nearly all the time but they just pass their exams. While some others may spend much less time on their books but do much better in exams. How could this happen? People used to think that hard work is the only way to success, but now they have understood that smart work can make them succeed, too.
Hard workers don't mind working for long hours, while smart workers always think of several different answers to these questions, "Why should I suffer(遭受) this?”“Isn't there a better way to do this?" Thanks to these people, we can use computers instead of the abacus now. Progress in every field (领域) is the direct result of "try to find a better way" by smart workers.
There was a large soap factory in Japan. Once it received an unusual letter from someone who complained that there was no soap in the soapbox he bought.
How could empty soapboxes go out of the factory? The engineers checked the production and packing. The production was fine, but in about one in ten thousand cases (情况), the packing machine let an empty soapbox go. There was no need to spend a lot of money repairing the machine for such a small problem. The engineer soon worked out a solution. He put a huge X-ray machine and two large computers to find out the empty soapboxes. After teaching the workers how to use it, he sat down in his seat, exhausted.
“Sir, we could have solved the problem in a much simpler and cheaper way," a worker said.
"Really? How?"
"We can put a huge fan near the packing machine. The wind coming from the fan will blow away the empty boxes, leaving the other boxes with soap. "
See, this is smart work. In order to succeed, we should not only work hard like the engineer, but also think smart like this worker.

A. Repairing the machine
B. Putting a huge fan
C. Putting two large computers
D. Putting a huge X-ray machine
. The underlined phrase “blow away" in the passage means .

I moved to a new neighborhood two months ago. In the house with a large garage across the road lived a taxi driver, a single parent with two school-aged children. At the end of the day, he would park his taxi on the road. I wondered why he did not park it in the garage.
Then one day I learnt that he had another car in his garage. In the afternoon he would come home from work, leave his taxi and go out for his personal affairs(个人事务) in his other car, not in his taxi. I felt it was wasteful .
I was curious to see his personal car but did not make it until I happened to be outside one evening two weeks later, when the garage door was open and he drove out in his “own” car: a Rolls-Royce(劳斯莱斯)! It shook me completely when I realized what that meant. You see, he was a taxi driver. But deep inside, he saw himself as something else: a Rolls-Royce owner and a father . He drove others in his taxi but himself and his children in his Rolls-Royce. The world looked at his taxi and called him a taxi driver. But for him, a taxi was just something he drove for a living. Rolls-Royce was something he drove for a life .
We go to bed every night and wake up every morning as parents or children, not as bankers, CEOs or professors. We go for a party as close friends or go for a vacation as a family . We love life as it is. Yet often, we base our entire happiness and success on how high we climb the social ladder—how much bigger and better a taxi we have. And we ignore our Rolls-Royce, by keeping it dusty in our garage. We should focus more on who we are than what we do!
66. Why did the taxi driver park his taxi on the road ?
A. Because it was very convenient . B. Because he had no garage .
C. Because he had another in the garage . D. Because it was free to park there .
67. The writer was surprised at _________ .
A. the taxi driver was a Rolls-Royce owner B. the taxi driver stole a Rolls-Royce
C. the taxi driver made a lot of money D. the taxi driver was wasting things
68. What did the taxi driver dive a taxi for ?
A. Just for fun . B. Making a living .
C. Helping others . D. Spending his spare time .
69. According to the writer , the underlined words “parents or children” means _______ .
A. how important we are B. what we are
C. who we are D. which we choose
70. What’s the main idea of the passage ?
A. We should try our best to take care of our family .
B. We should only pay more attention to our family .
C. We shouldn’t show off in front of others .
D. We should try to be ourselves.
