Text1 (31 w)
W: I hardly ever go shopping by car now. The shopping center is within walking distance.
M: Well, you are lucky. The nearest store I can go to is about 4 miles away.
Text2 (30 w)
W: The admission price is $ 10 per person. That’s really expensive for just one show.
M: You’re right. But if you have a student card, you’ll get in for $ 3.
Text3 (36 w)
W: This is the third time you have been late this week, Robert. You’ll have to do better than that, or I might find it necessary to let you go.
M: It won’t happen again, I assure you.
Text4 (23 w)
M: If you hadn’t mentioned their dinner party, I could have gone home.
W: That would be the third time you’ve disappointed them this month.
Text5 (40 w)
W: Jack seems to be a fan of art. On the walls of his bedroom, there are so many paintings. Some of them are priceless.
M: However, he does not like visiting the art museum because he considers it a noisy place.
Text6 (63 w)
W: Hi, this is Sally. I’m expecting a package to be delivered, but I have to go to the property manager. Could you sign for the package and hold it for me?
M: OK. Would you like to come in for a cup of coffee?
W: No, thanks. I need to talk to the manager about some problems with my apartment. Catch you later. Bye.
M: Bye.
Text7 (123 w)
W: Hey Todd. Why can I never reach you on the phone?
M: Ah, I hate talking on the phone, so I always put my cell phone in the closet and turn it off.
W: These days everybody has one. They’re quite useful actually.
M: You see, when I’m busy and if somebody calls me, I feel really guilty for not calling them back. So I just keep it off.
W: Well, that’s why you like land lines, because you can pretend you didn’t hear it or that you weren’t home then.
M: Exactly, I really miss the old style phones.
W: I think you’re just not going with the times. We’re using technology right now.
M: That’s true. But I often use the Internet.
W: OK, well, let’s agree to disagree.
Text 8 (96 w)
W:I really need a vacation.I just can’t decide where to go.
M:What about Curacao?
W:What’s so great about Curacao?
M:Bright sunny days with blue water rolling upon to the clean white sand. Gentle winds blowing at night. Playing tennis, swimming, reading and eating well. Come on! It’s a tremendous place to go.
W:Oh, I don’t know.
M:Look! You can go wherever you want. But it’s important that you relax during your vacation. And Curacao is the perfect place for that.
W: OK. I’ll think about it.
Text9 (250 w)
M: Hey, Karen. Looks like you’ve got some sun this weekend.
W: Yeah. I spent the weekend at the beach.
M: Oh, that’s great. Where did you stay?
W: Some friends of my parents live out there, and they invited me there for as long as I want to stay.
M: Oh, great. But how come you came back so soon? If I were you, I would stay there longer.
W: Oh, I hated to do it, but I had to. I’ve got a paper to work on. I just couldn’t do any serious studying at the beach, you know.
M: I don’t blame you then. So what did you do there? I mean besides lying out in the sun, you must have other things to enjoy yourself.
W: Yeah. I jogged up and down the beach and I played some volleyball. I never realized how hard it is to run on sand. I couldn’t get through a whole game before I had to sit down. It’s much easier to run on wet sand near the water.
M: I think so. Did you go swimming?
W: I wanted to. But they said the water isn’t warm enough for that until a couple of months from now. So I just walked in up to my knees.
M: It all sounds so relaxing. I wish I could get away to the beach like that.
W: It looks like you could use it. Don’t tell me you spent the weekend in the library again.
M: Seems you are right. I’ve got a paper due next Monday.
Text10 (211 w)
Visitors to Britain are always complaining about English food. But they do not really know what they are talking about because they rarely get a chance to eat it. Most restaurants in large towns serve foreign food. When visitors are invited to eat in an English home, their hosts often feel they must offer them something foreign.
Those of us who do know English food are aware that at its best it can be really very good. On the other hand it is true to say that it’s sometimes terrible. Part of the problem is that we are not really interested in food—we eat to live, we do not live to eat. So we don’t generally spend the necessary time and effort needed to cook really good meals. We prefer food that is simple and easy to cook, or ready prepared food which only needs heating up before eating.
You can find the best English foods in small restaurants in the country away from the large cities, where life is slower and people are not in such a hurry. But of course, most visitors come to London because they are interested in shopping and sightseeing. They do not come because of the food, so why should they complain about it?

Ⅴ. 第二节 书面表达:(满分30分)
Possible Version One
Boys and girls,
As Francis Bacon once said, reading makes a full man. A good book can affect our life in one way or another. My Life Story by Helen Keller is one such book as touched my heart. It is about how Helen overcame her physical disabilities and succeeded by struggling in her long and hard learning period.
From the book, I learned that whenever we come across difficulties or even misfortune, we should never give in or run away. Instead, we are supposed to face them bravely and try to find ways out. Reading can not only improve our ability to understand the world, but also wash our souls. To live an enjoyable and meaningful life, let’s read more good books!
That’s all. Thank you!

Possible Version Two
Boys and girls,
Recently I’ve read an inspiring book, My Life Story by Helen Keller. It is about how Helen overcame her physical disabilities and succeeded by struggling hard in her life. I deeply feel a good book can affect our life. I’ve learned that I should face difficulties bravely when hard time comes; I won’t give up learning even if I’m in poor health; perseverance leads to success.
However, it’s a great pity that many students kill their time by playing games or surfing the Internet. So I suggest everyone read more good books. Not only can reading make our life meaningful, but it can also broaden our view. More reading will make us better persons. Let’s read, learn and grow together!
That’s all. Thank you!
