英语口语之make+friends

    As we know that friendship is a very important human relationship and everyone needs good friends. There is an old saying "One man is not good enough to live alone in the world". And Good friendship has many benefits. It offers companionship, improves self-worth and promotes good health. Making new friends comes easy for some people. But for many of freshman  the process is difficult and requires courage. There are times in our lives such as when we have recently moved into a new place , or changed our jobs or schools just like we are the freshman in the university at present.  Such changes often leaves us without a friend . And we should make friends again and again . I often hear many people around me complain and are confused about making friends in a new situation . If you are also worried about this problem . If you think you are a shy and inexperienced in making friends . If you are eager to have friends . Now listen carefully please , below are some helpful suggestions on how to make and keep friends.

    As a saying of Confucious ,there are three kinds of beneficial of people one may make friends with .Equally ,there are three kinds of people one should not make friends with .It is beneficial for one to make friends with those who are upright ,honest ,and erudite.It is harmful for one to make friends with those who are good at rhetoric today ,those who flatter people but slander them behind their backs ,those who brag but not erudite at all.Through this saying ,we have learned what kinds of friends that we should make with.We need upright friends.Because they are careful to follow acceptable rules of behaviour and behave in a moral way. Sometimes they could tell you what you should do and what you should not do.They are models in life .We need honest friends.Because they are tolerant and happy. They are not strict with you, And you can get along with them comfortably .You can share secrets with him but needn't worry he will release.We need erudite friends.Because they could help us in our study ,work and so on.We can learn a lot of things from them.They could improve our cultural qualities and cultural foundation.All in all we need friends who we can trust each other.

    Thus we should consider whether he has a good influence on us when making friends. It is very important .Because a man is known by the company he keeps. Just as a saying goes :Birds of the same feather flock together.

    Being polite is one thing we should do when we being along with others.

    Different countries, different nations, people in different faiths have different etiquettes. So the thing we always faced is the different etiquettes we need to obey when making different friends.

    You may ask how should I know what’s the right etiquette when the first time I meet a student especially a foreign student? for our school’s student come from the whole nation and has so many international students came from over 30 counties. 

    My suggestion is that don’t worry about it too much. As here is in China, those foreign students will understand our politeness when you meet them in a normal polite way. Then you can suffer the internet after it, and to know the customs in his/her country. Tolerating others behavior is the most impotent things we and our foreign students all should do.

    Being friendly is not only by obeying the etiquettes but also by paying attention on little behaviors.        

    Don’t stare at others. You can look at his face or his body. Always looking at other’s eyes can make your partner feel uncomfortable. In china, we concentrate more on other’s eyes, as we think eyes is the window of one’s heart, it shows one’s emotions but the whole face expression, even the whole body language can also give you ideas about their feelings.

    When talking to others, you can do some gesture, but I suggests you’d better not let your actions go beyond. Don’t point at others, don’t always pushing or beating your friends even you are too excited!

Don’t forget to talk with the other people in the group with you. Give others chances to express their opinions, listen carefully when other people are talking. 

    One more tip, which we always ignore. Don’t always look at your watch! It can really make your friend unhappy.

When you get on with someone for some time ,you will choose one or some your intimate friend .

    we always go shopping or chat with our friends, but it is your intimate friend who you can share your privacy with.

The term, friend, covers a wide range of meanings. It can be a nodding acquaintance, a comrade, a confident, a partner, a playmate, a brother, an intimate etc.

    As life is full of strife and conflict, we need friends to support and help as out of difficulties. Our friends give us warnings against danger. True friends share not only joy but, more often than not, they share sorrow.

    In my opinion, intimate friends are who accepts you as you are, believe in you, never judge you, raise your spirits, quiet your fears, tell you the truth when you need to hear it.

    However, it is significant to know that if you want to make intimate friends, you have to do what they do in return. Friendship needs reply.

    After learning communication etiquette, then I will tell you how to make friends with foreigners. 

    Firstly, where are we going to find foreigners? In our university, the cafeteria, happiness supermarket. The best place to meet foreigners is coffee house. Secondly, when should you go to the place? Of course, Dinner time is a special opportunity in the cafeteria. And night is the best time in happiness supermarket. You can go to the coffee house at any time except after midnight.

    Remembering you are finding a friend not a GF or BF, so don’t care about other people's appearance, skin color, age. If it is your first time to find a foreign friend. You had better find a people alone. If not, you can try to find some foreigners together. It is very difficult. It may be this. The foreigners: what do you think… do you find… and you just  en en en nod nod nod.

    After Selecting a foreigner, it is your time to talk to her or him. Remember, respect for the first. You can ask: May I sit down here? “sure “ .it means that you're already half successful. Don’t forget to say thanks.

The next step is to talk.  start off by introducing yourself? Your name, your major, where are you from and so on. You can ask hin or her the same questions. You just have to say:and you? I would highly recommend you talk about hobbies,such as music, sport, film ,city ,ambition. Hope you have a pleasant conversation. Don’t forget to ask for telephone number.

    A faithful friend is hard to find. Stay connected  with short phone calls, email messages or text messages. Visiting some place and interests with your new friends. If you and your friends have deep friendship, it is time to inbite your friends to be your language partner. Good luck to you.
