Advantages of a Job Interview

It is a popular trend that more and more companies have interviews when they need recruitment, because the interview can benefit the interviewers in knowing more about the employees and the interviewees in knowing more about the company. 

On one hand, the interview offers an opportunity for the interviewers to introduce the company in detail, such as working conditions, the nature of the work, salaries and so on,

On the other hand, for the interviewees, they have a chance to show themselves and leave the employers a good impression through presenting their confidence, good education background, and their abilities.

In short, a job interview is advantageous and helpful for both the employers and employees.

二．Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition in no less than 120 words, on the topic: Getting to Know the World Outside the Campus. You should base your composition on the following outline (given in Chinese).

Getting to know the world outside the campus

As the development of science and technology, our society is becoming increasingly competitive, and the era is calling for college students to adapt ourselves to this society so that we could compete for our own position in the society in the near future. Therefore, it is quite necessary for college students to get to know the outside world and prepare ourselves for it.

Then, how can we get to know the outside world as college students? Actually, we can browse the internet to get some latest news and social development. Besides that, we can join in some social activities or take some part-time jobs so as to get familiar with the society.

As far as I am concerned, society is another good college for us. Thus, apart from taking lessons in the college, I would like to enter the society and learn some social rules as that I could become an all-around student in the future.

1．有些人认为某些数字会带来好运。

2．有些人认为数字和运气无关。

3. 试说说你的看法。

Some people say that some numbers will bring them good luck, because they believe that some numbers have good implications. For example, the number “6” is used to symbolize that everything goes well.

However, others don’t believe that numbers have any connection with good luck. They think such an idea is only a superstitious belief. A number is one thing, and good luck is another. In their heart, if one does not work hard, he will not have good luck simply because of some lucky numbers. 

So far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter. Obviously, such belief is only a kind of superstition. Numbers can never bring good luck to a person at all and our fortune is in our own hands. Therefore, everyone can have good fortune only if he tries his best. Let’s always remember “Opportunities are only for the prepared mind” and “No pains, no gains.

Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary?

Some people believe that a test of spoken English is not necessary because they do not think that they will speak with others in English one day. The reason for what they learn English is that they are required to pass the exams which are mainly written English.

However, others consider it very necessary to have a test of spoken English. In their minds, English is used to communicate with others, so one should not only learn to read, write, but also learn to listen and speak. Therefore, it is necessary to have a test of spoken English.

As far as I am concerned, I agree with the latter. As the future builders of our mother country, we are supposed to pay attention to our spoken English and have the habit of reading aloud, opening mouths to talk with others in English.

五. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition in no less than 120 words, on the topic: Reading Selectively or Extensively? You should base your composition on the following outline (given in Chinese).

3．我的看法.

  Reading selectively or extensively 

Some people either think that we can only be competent in one academic field, or that we only need to read those books that we are interested in. Therefore, they choose to read selectively.

However, others believe that we can get knowledge through reading, and every book carries its unique way of presenting new knowledge to us. For example, when we read text books, we learn the professional knowledge of a field; when we read classic novels, we get to know the background, the specific time and people, etc.. Thus, they prefer to read extensively. 

For my part, I agree with the later. Through reading extensively, we can broaden our horizon of the whole world. Moreover, the more knowledge, the more competent we are for this diverse society. So reading extensively can prepare us better for the future.
